Sarah I don't know about the medical environment in England, but here in the states, especially if you live in a small town, you can virtually be cut off from all medical help. If you don't play the game by "their" rules (agree with the doctor, don't ask too many questions, do what the doc...

I've always had problems with UTIs and have had one for about 8 weeks now. Every time I stop any antibiotic, the symptoms come back. I can't believe you've had a sinus infection for 11 months. I've had one of those just twice and they are brutal. Are the symptoms I think are a UTI the "urinary ...

Lifeontheice: You said "if only more people tried it." I wish I could. You are an MD, Sarah had access through her husband, the new person's husband is a doctor. I just met with my PC doctor this afternoon and finally said, "how do you feel about alternative treatments?" The answ...

hormones

Shayk-I'm so interested in your ideas about hormones. I know several women who were diagnosed right after giving birth, including me. I also know several whose symptoms went crazy right after beginning menopause, including me. I'm intrigued but don't know what to do about it.

oddduck

Karen-thanks for your words. I appreciate it. The spelling of the person mentioned to look up is "Oddduck," no hyphen. There are tons of posts by her about an anti-depressant she uses, or used. I think she left the board when she decided she didn't have MS.

Once during an exacerbation, I was on 1200 mg per day for 3 days. The idea then is to taper off slowly. I went to 80 mg for 3 days, per doc instructions, and felt like I was going to die. I thought it was the predizone and stopped. That was a mistake. He put me back on 80, 60, 40, 20 mg for 3 days e...

I write my posts in a word processor and cut and paste onto the board after. It helps in a number of ways including going back and forth between your own post and one you may be responding to. It also helps with my terrible spelling and if you have to stop before finishing or have a crash, you don't...

confused

A GP once told me he just diagnosed someone who was in his sixties. I'm sure you can't be "too old." When I was diagnosed, my neuro told me he could not dx with MRI alone but with my other symptoms, he was pretty sure. Pain is certainly consistent with MS. I've had doctors tell me differen...

let's post here more

I'm in a long slow progression right now and would love for it to go into remission. My original neuro who diagnosed me wouldn't write it down anywhere for fear of my losing insurance. That was a long time ago and insurance issues are different now but some doctors don't even know that. I had to exp...

my depression

Maybe I should post this in the "regimens" topic but this one on depression seems more suited. My "regimen" is to survive through each day as best I can, enjoying what turns out to be enjoyable. Mostly, I just exist. I am 56 and feel guilty for not being sicker. I feel guilty for...

InteliHealth error

On May 22, Reed posted in this thread about a gross error on the InteliHealth website. I somehow got caught up in trying to get someone at Harvard Medical School (the supposed editors in charge of content there) to issue a correction. No one at InteliHealth responds except with a automated response....

amazing patience

I wanted to comment about kathryn's ability to teach 8th grade while taking steriods, too. WOW! My only course of steriods was when my son was a teenager and after a few days, he just steered clear in fear of his life. I'm very impressed.

welcome

Hi Gillie and welcome to the site. I'm one of those "lurkers," reading at least once, sometimes 2 or 3 times per day, but not posting much. I get a lot from this site and feel guilty for not contributing. My problem is that I have pretty severe cognitive dysfunction and can hardly read som...
