Re: Long term symptoms but an answer maybe coming...

@jimmylegs, just wanted to let you know that the magnesium/calcium drink is working like a charm! I'm SO much more chilled out so just wanted the thank you for that great tip. Hubby is not noticing it as much but he compares his chilled-outness to how he feels after a bowl of MJ, so it's not really ...

Re: Long term symptoms but an answer maybe coming...

Thanks JL :) I'm going to go on the hunt for a new doctor today - one closer to home as the current one is 20 miles away as it's so difficult to get there anyway. As a Brit living in the USA, I'm sooooooo not used to choice when it comes to healthcare and I find that choice is a double-edged sword i...

Re: Long term symptoms but an answer maybe coming...

Hey Jimmylegs! First... you guys are such a mine of information! THANK YOU! Got a lot of reading to do! Now.. the appointment. What a bust. I'm going to change doctors. He's a nice guy but frankly, he's not really giving a flying eff about anything. He wouldn't order any more blood tests as he said ...

Re: Long term symptoms but an answer maybe coming...

Thanks lyndacarol for that info, very useful and I'll be sure to watch the video. I assume he was on nitrous oxide at some point during his surgery, it was such a whirlwind, super urgent emergency surgery we really didn't get a thorough run-through on anything much. He did have to have a blood trans...

Re: Long term symptoms but an answer maybe coming...

It kinda fits him right now, although the solids is a process of course. He had major surgery when he was 5 weeks old on an incarcerated inguinal hernia and had an inch of intestines removed which had strangulated, which I think ultimately slowed down his eating development as it's taken months to i...

Re: Long term symptoms but an answer maybe coming...

Cross posted with Jimmylegs and NHE there! Thanks for that info, everyone. I think the extra bloods/nuritionist/dietician is certainly the way forward, especially as I am super concerned about the about-to-wean baby (and my 16 year old for that matter) getting good nutrition and no nasties. I'm find...

Re: Long term symptoms but an answer maybe coming...

Thanks for that tip lyndacarol. I haven't been able to give him any multivitamins like they started him on in the NICU as his tummy just couldn't tolerate it so I'll have a look on the internet for a good tummy friendly B12 plus anything that goes with it, that is suitable for a 7 month old... i.e. ...

Re: Long term symptoms but an answer maybe coming...

Ok, cool. I'll ask for those bloods to be done as they are recommended in the MS sites I have read and researched. I learnt through dealing with my sons Pediatrician never to refer to forums, be vague on actual sites but definite what has been found out by researching. They can't be bothered to chec...

Re: Long term symptoms but an answer maybe coming...

OH! I should mention this too - I take Omeprazole for acid reflux and I know that has a big effect on Magnesium absorption levels and Calcium too. Sorry, should have mentioned that before! I have ordered the drink you recommended though :) One cherry, one lemon

Re: Long term symptoms but an answer maybe coming...

Interesting that they grayed out the questionables - or maybe they are in red on my black and white printout and didn't print properly. So, when I go to the regular doc on Monday, can you advise me on what I should be asking him for and why, just so I don't sound so dim? My guess is that he will loo...

Re: Long term symptoms but an answer maybe coming...

I was going to say I'm not a picky eater, but since moving to the USA I've become very aware of the chemicals, additives, hormones and other nasties that are allowed in food here, so I try to eat organic only. Easier said than done when just getting out of the house is a challenge! Now that's not to...

Re: Long term symptoms but an answer maybe coming...

My main barriers to eating and drinking are bad habits, no appetite since my pregnancy and the baby being born which in itself was a huge stress as he was 2 months early by emergency c-section, in NICU for a month then had emergency surgery for an incarcerated hernia one week after coming home! We'v...

Re: Long term symptoms but an answer maybe coming...

I should confess at this stage that my diet and lifestyle is abysmal. I am barely eating, barely drinking, barely sleeping, stressed out by my husband, a 7 month old baby and the boss from hell. I never get out as I work from home and I'm probably depressed. I do take a multivitamin after a lecture ...

Re: Long term symptoms but an answer maybe coming...

So I have some of the blood results but some had to be sent to the Mayo Clinic as they are too specialized for our hospital to deal with. I'll list out what I do have, sorry if there are irrelevent results included, I'm not sure what is useful and what isn't. WBC 7.2 K/uL RBC 4.47 M/ul HGB 12.9 g/dl...
