Batpere, I guess what I meant when I said that, was that I've been told most patients do well with it. Low dose Methotrexate is commonly prescribed for RA.....Rheumatoid Arthritis. I experienced the rare type side-effects that most people don't have. My neuro and eye doc put me on it specifically t...

Another possibility is depression. If you are depressed (either by your circumstances which is understandable, or as a side-effect of the Avonex), you would feel major fatigue and hopelessness. I would suggest you meet with the neuro that prescribed the Avonex and let him know how you are doing. He...

I'm not so sure you should be thinking it's the Avonex that's causing the fatigue. You are battling a virus. You have MS. Both of those things carry fatigue factors. Yes....you're just starting your Avonex regimen, so you probably have additional malaise during the 24 hrs post injection, but that sh...

Well I see it's been over a month since you posted and no replies. I guess what you're doing isn't all that common? I am not doing intracath Methotrexate but my neuro and retinal specialist did put me on oral low dose Methotrexate. I took it for about 4 or 5 months and felt like it was killing me. ...

Denise, I'm so sorry you're having a rough time. Have your strange symptoms eased up at all? Did you take your shot Friday or are you putting it off? I don't know about you, but I have pollen allergies and right now the scotch broom in our area is awful. It makes me so fatigued I can hardly move and...

I see that this thread is kind of old but I'm hoping 4wheelgirl is still around. I am curious about something. Do you by any chance live at a high altitude?

I did experience hair thinning/loss around the 5 or 6 month of using Avonex. I was lucky that I started out with a ton of hair to begin with I guess. Anyway.....it settled down and I can honestly say that after using Avonex for almost 5 years now.....I have just as much hair as before I started.

I have been on Avonex since Nov. 2000. I had pretty bad chills, fever, achy muscles during the night of my injection for about 2-3 months. I advise you to keep 2 Tylenol and a glass of water on your nightstand. If you wake up in the middle of the night, it's nice to have them handy. After that the ...
