Taurus, Without wishing to overstate the obvious, nor incur the wrath of some lucky soul who is aging with joints intact -- is it possible you are just getting older? That said, I've got a dicey shoulder on my weak arm -- simple fact that it is easier to injure yourself if you have muscle weakness. ...

Thanks SF -- that's helpful. I'd be interested to hear if anyone else experiences this. *** I have been surprised at how different doctors' descriptions of 'typical MS' are from what I read here. I could understand that being true a decade ago, but given the explosion of tools for gathering info fro...

Looking up Thomas Hale's Medications and Mother's Milk 1999 (8th edition): Gabapentin has a pregnancy risk category C, meaning either no studies on animals or humans, or else it showed adverse effects in animals and there is no info for humans. Solu-medrol (methlypredinisone) didn't have a pregnancy...

winded easily during relapse?
Another 'anyone else get this?' question: Leg is acting up again over the last couple weeks; had been behaving more or less for over a year. But here is something I hadn't noticed before: It's not just that my leg is getting tired quickly during an activity that was no problem three weeks ago, but *...

Do a search on Raynauds Syndrome. I got this earlier this year. Had to keep my hands very warm to help with the pain, and running under hot water helped heaps. It's something to do with circulation and blood vessels, can be secondary to other problems. Thanks -- I had thought about that. Didn't kno...

Burning/Shards of Glass pain in hands and feet - familiar?
Anyone tell me if this sounds like something familiar: Sudden onset of shards-of-glass/burning pain in the small joints of my hands/wrists and feet. Symmetrical. Made worse by cold (such as washing hands), made better by heat (such as washing hands with hot water). Better with rest, worse with use. ...

thanks Jen! What's a platypus water bag? Something from a sporting goods store?? Yes. If the link works, look here: http://www.rei.com/product/768123 or here: http://www.campmor.com/outdoor/gear/Product___67049 You could just use (or re-use) a plastic water bottle, too. We happen to already own the...

I have had good luck with using an ordinary (cheap, flimsy) backpack, and sticking a big bag of ice in it. I use a platypus brand waterbag, but you could use a doubled set of gallon ziplocks. Fill with water, freeze. Stick in backpack, so that the ice is against the small of your back. You could exp...

I send my kids to play outside. All year round, many hours. They are homeschooled, so they can get a lot of hours in the sun. Beyond that, just a standard multivitamin, 400 iu I think, probably 60% of the time on average. (Depends on the spouse remember to put vitamins out before he goes to work.) T...
