Another possible reason is the embarrassment factor: "All this time we thought we knew what we were doing, using the immune system attacks theory taught in medical colleges, and then some Italian guy says it could be a circulatory problem instead?" CCSVI questions the expertise of a segmen...

I actually live in Mexico much of the time to save money after my second attack hit. I am a US citizen and will keep my savings to pay for testing and possible treatment in the US or Europe. The quality spectrum for Mexican medical care is wider than you, as a Canadian, are accustomed to. In Mexico ...

Thanks for the continuing updates on your condition post-treatment, Zuereka. And that is good news regarding the headaches post-treatment. You are only six weeks out and the improvements were supposed to set in (if recall an account of Dr. Simka's statements to a patient) around the three month mark...

Kathy, Congratulations. I was in a similar boat. No diagnosis of MS when the first attack hit; it was attributed to other causes -- including unrequited love and overworking. It is a difficult diagnosis to make, apparently. If a "perfect" stenosis score in the jugulars is 200, you ranked p...

I may ask Dr. Sclafani, on his thread, to share as many details of his results so far as he can (if he hasn't already - haven't read everything yet. Anyone know?). Yes, check out the most recent posts (Saturday and today, July 4) of that thread. This will help you not have to read the other 150 pag...

Even set to piano music, pretty impressive. More impressive is that what seems like a collateral outlet in the "before" portion of the video is absent in the "after" portion. So there must be less resistance to flow (and less or no reflux) after the ballooning and/or stenting. Th...

Algis is right, but I would be less polite. Science calls for rational debate and evidence, not what amount to death threats. And either Canadians tax dollars (or donated dollars) are paying for this ambassador? I would demand a refund if I were a Canadian. This is worse than the "hoax" re...

I had my procedure exactly one week ago and was happy to see improvements. By last Thursday nearly all positive effects had vanished. Just to clarify this thread, JoyIsMyStrength, did you have any stents placed? If I recall correctly, about one-half of Zamboni's balloon only treatments restenosed, ...

Dr. Simka wrote (on another blog) a well-reasoned defense of stents.

Every procedure and device (including stents) has risk.

So does doing nothing.

So does just ballooning.

You just need the complete information to determine which risk is greater.

I VOTE WITH RHONDA'S ANALYSIS ABOVE.

The procedure went really well. It was a long one - I was on the table for about 90 minutes - and they did an angioplasty in both my left and my right-side veins. Stents not necessary. Congratulations on being tested and treated, Martin. As an American I noticed neither the US nor the Brit soccer t...

Re: Anticoagulants very important for Stents but Not for Bal

Hi, I hear of anticoagulants being very important for patients who have stents, but few have them with balloon angioplasty. Why is this? I thought ANY surgical incision/intervention would need anticoagulants to prevent clotting? Could someone explain please A guess from a non professional: The sten...
