prescribing statins for MS
Does anyone know of a Neuro (or other Doc) in Colorado who has prescribed, or will prescribe, statins for someone who does NOT have high cholesterol, but who does have MS?

Is there any data on reducing progression to disability? I think everyone is coming to accept that reduction of lesion load and relapse rate do not necessarily indicate a reductino in the overall progression of the disease. If this is to be the new standard of MS treatments, they should use the new ...

Thanks for the feedback. So far I don't hear anyone describing what my wife has. Yes, she does have MS - we know that already. And, yes, whe does have MS pain that comes and goes, especially when she is tired. What is confusing us now is pain that gets triggered when she sits or lies in a certain po...

neuropathic pain
My wife was dxd 6 years ago. For the last 3 years she has had chronic nerve pain (aching, burning, sensitivity, etc.) down one leg or the other (never both) to the toes. It's almost always there at some level, but can be fired up immediately by certain activities or positions (sitting, bending forwa...

GM atrophy and disability
Art posted an interesting study (http://www.neurology.org/cgi/content/abstract/65/2/280) on the Boston Cure site finding that Grey Matter (GM) atrophy (axonal death) is the biggest factor in MS disibility. This raises an interesting question: if axonal death is responsible for most of the disability...

transverse myelitis
My wife was dignosed with MS 6 years ago. Her sister was diagnosed with MS two years ago, but has recently been re-diagnosed as having transverse myelitis. A quick online review of TM makes me wonder how Doctors can reliably distinguish between the two. So, maybe my wife also has TM instead of MS. A...

Trial funding
Shall we put our heads together and brainstorm ways that funding can be found for trials that are meaningful to the MS community but not necessarily for the big pharma companies? We currently have these big pharmas funding a trail of rebif vs. copaxone (<sarcasm>so that we can find out that one is 3...

Bromley, I understand you concern, but disagree with your conclusion that we have even less to be hopeful for now than we did before. Yes, it is frustrating that some of the new discoveries might lead us to realize that the current therapies are useless. But the extremely exciting thing is that we a...

It is exhilarating to see an age-old MS paradigm gradually being brought down, like the statue of a fallen dictator. Let me be a constant pest reminding all that we should not only share these ideas and energy with each other in this forum, but also push on the beurocracies that are still blindly fo...

gray matter affected in earliest stages of MS
For all the people who are still seeing MS as an autoimmune attack on myelin (modled by EAE in mice). Wake up!! Times are changing!!
