Re: MN doctor -CCSVI - Dr. Michael Cumming
Updated it! You are continuing to treat patients for CCSVI, then? Is testing done at the new clinic with treating done at the hospital? It has been awhile! How has your approach to treating evolved? If you attended SIR, was the chatter generally negative or neutral or positive in regards to CCSVI? ...

we definitely are ballooning the valves which are abnormal to begin with.

Re: Left Renal Vein, you're so vein you probably think this
Sal, are you primarily stenting these patients or trying angioplasty first? mike, i am stenting them primarily since my first angioplasty alone experience was a failure. Criteria for stenting include extensive collaterals, symptoms (which include ccsvi symptoms), compression to near occlusion as se...

Re: Gold Standard Diagnostic Tools
I was really disappointed with level of interest in IVUS. The panel of experts barely mentioned it and largely were skeptical that it added any benefit. I had a discussion with a few them afterwards and failed to convince them. Sal, we have an uphill battle to fight. Hopefully at the SIR workshop we...

Sal, this is off topic from the thread title ....
At ISET, a member of the audience suggested that part of the improvement seen post jugular vein dilation could be related to injury of the vagus nerve causing a transient sympathectomy similar to renal denervation... interesting thought.

Re: Dr. Mehta: 2% occlusion rate at 4.5 months
Hi Cece The occlusion rate seems low. Although I do believe we are getting better at understanding how to prevent occlusions. The restenosis rate is also very low. The basic problem is we do not have a scientifically validated method to even determine what is or isn't restenosis (at least on convent...

Re: septums
For some "easy" reading see
http://www.theodora.com/anatomy/develop ... ystem.html
it would make sense that these abnormal valves and septums are a result of something going wrong during the formation of the venous system.

Re: IVUS
Yes, we did retreat, smaller balloon, lower pressures and the patient continues to do well. We really need further investigation in an animal model to determine how much force we can apply to vein wall without damaging the structural integrity of the vein and subsequent loss of luminal diameter due ...

Case 8
Hi Sal, Here is a case to illustrate what I have seen. I did this procedure shortly after the EHC meeting in Glasgow. At that meeting there was a lot of enthusiasm for big balloons and having to break the annulus using cutting wires if needed. I was not using IVUS at this time. https://lh3.googleuse...

Re: IVUS
Could it be vascular remodeling? http://www.springerlink.com/content/d24362l822x51571/ It was known in general that the central key of coronary restenosis formation after percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty (PTCA) is the intimal hyperplasia resulting from proliferation, migration of smoo...
