Re: Haptens can trigger MS

Interestingly, biotin, which is being used to treat progressive MS, is a hapten.

Re: Experts agree on vitamin D benefits

Very interesting. MS research is finally waking up. Ashton Embry was talking about vitamin D for MS 7 years ago. Perhaps Dr. Coimbra's treatment using mega doses of vitamin D may become mainstream?

Re: side effects?

The only side effect of biotin my wife has seen is slight skin rash. Another question - it appears lipoic acid may be another supplement that looks very promising for PPMS. It appears to have some of the same beneficial actions as biotin. I wonder if taking them both is a good idea, or might they co...

Re: Lipoic acid may provide ‘inexpensive’ MS treatment

A lot of people are now taking biotin, which seems to have possibly the same benefits as lipoic acid. The question in my mind - would taking both of them together be beneficial, or might they negate each other?

Realize that biotin is readily available, there are thousands of people around the world currently taking 300 mg of biotin a day for PPMS. The facebook page is 'Biotin for progressive MS' .

Great news. Can you tell us if you had MS? If so, was it RRMS, SPMS or PPMS?

Dr. Cicero Coimbra, MD, PHD, Neurologist, Professor and Researcher from Universidade Federal de São Paulo. I believe he went to medical school in the USA, this is mentioned in one of his videos.

Re: How do I buy HSCT treatment?

I'm very leery of overseas stem cell clinics - however, if you google Holly Huber, you will see lots of blogs on her positive outcome getting stem cell treatments in Central America.

Supplements and safety

I know a lot of us take supplements. I'm a proponent, but be careful - there is no regulation or testing in the USA, up to 60% of supplements are not what they say. Here is the Frontline story on this.

I believe Tisch is concentrating on PPMS with this trial. MSC is very different from HCST.

Re: about high dose vitamin D treatment

I'm also very interested in Coimbra's protocol. It's very frustrating trying to get helpful info since 90% of what's out there is in Portuguese. The big question I have - is it effective for all types of MS, or just stopping relapses? I suspect there aren't many doctors here in the US and Europe usi...

A very nice post. The Tisch MS center is one I feel is doing the right things, and is not funded by big pharma.
