i got a thing from my ins. co. there was a cost of a little over $20,000. I had angioplasty balloon no stents. then i got a bill from the clinic for close to 1200 for the doppler afterwards. i then started getting bills from hosp. so back and forth with my ins. and their billing. they are getting it straightened out. so to be exact? but it's pretty close.

WOW! It looks like the total cost being charged to insurance companies is over $21,000. The cost in the clinic is about $7,000. I can see why they use the clinic for people without insurance.blossom wrote:i got a thing from my ins. co. there was a cost of a little over $20,000. Re: ccsvi
That's another problem with our health care system. They should be obligated to provide a firm total cost BEFORE the operation.blossom wrote:i got a thing from my ins. co. there was a cost of a little over $20,000. My insurance company settled with the hospital for around $19,500 (charges were around $24,300 before "provider agreed upon savings") and the charges billed separately from Community Care were just under $3,000 of which my insurance picked up roughly half as my insurance recognized CC but CC did not have an agreement with my insurance. I had angio only (no stents) in about a four hour procedure in both jugulars and my azygous and was told I was an unusual case as the reflux and blockage was as bad as they had seen to that point. They had to put a second port in my neck and run a line down my jugular in order to guide the wires up from the bottom. I spent the night in the hospital after the procedure. Initially I had been quoted estimated costs for CC of between $1,500 and $2,000 but after seeing what they had to do, I have no complaints and feel the doctor's charges were very reasonable. All in all, my out of pocket was around $1,500. I can't figure the exact breakdown as the hospital billing is convoluted but the CC charges were for the venogram and the angio.
