After balloon angio and 20days Heperin is Aspirin helpful?
I had balloon angioplasty 3 weeks ago and was given a 20day supply of Heperin injections (0.6ml)
I finished my last injection today,
the doctor said after the 20days of heperin i dont need to take baby aspirin but i could if i wanted to
So now ive finished the 21days of Heperin, do people think its a good idea to now take Aspirin (75mg) ?
would there be any benefits/negatives by taking daily 75mg Aspirin?
- - - my jugulars were blocked 50% and my azygos 95%

I would stick with blood thinners as long as you can (I have found the heparin really helpful for my MS). Aspirin does not work in the same way as heparin so if your dr will not let you stay on the heparin for longer I would take the aspirin.
Anything that can help with bloodflow I believe is good for MS.
Drink lots of water too as this helps with bloodflow

LR was this a typo:

i thought Aspirin does the same as Heperin in thinning the blood just not as excessively?
MJC i said in my first post i asked the doctor who done the procedure and he said its not necessary but i can take baby aspirin if i wanted to.
If i do take 75mg aspirin, how many days after stopping Heperin would it then be suitable to go on Aspirin?
- my last heperin injection was last night (20 hours ago)

Heparin is an anticoagulant, aspirin is an antiplatelet. They work on different elements of the clotting process, so they both are blood thinners, but different.dc10 wrote:LR was this a typo:

Hope you have been feeling well since the procedure

aspirin
I have been on baby aspirin now for 5 months post-procedure - no problems. We were told to take it for 6 months, following the one months of Pradaxa (European anticoagulant). Every centre seems to have their own recommendations re blood thinning.
