Pioglitazone (Actos) Reactions Please

Post by amelia »

I have a friend that is interested in Pioglitazone (Actos). I saw it listed in the Phase 2 trials. I looked it up, but don't trust just any site on research stats. Anybody hear anything about it, on it, etc? I'd love to hear some input.

Actos

I am the website's resident believer that excess insulin production is involved in MS. Because Actos reduces circulating insulin levels (according to the Physicians' Desk Reference) I asked my doctor if I could try it. He agreed, but I saw no change in MS symptoms from my two-month trial. I did develop swelling of the ankles and feet (a published possible side effect), which took quite a long time to absolve.

Actos made no difference for me, but I still believe insulin plays a role.
