A retrospective study has found low 25-hydroxyvitamin D levels in people who developed recurrent non–multiple sclerosis (MS) spinal cord diseases, including transverse myelitis, neuromyelitis optica, and neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorders.
In contrast, vitamin D levels were normal in people with monophasic spinal cord disease such as idiopathic transverse myelitis.
