Could this finally be the cure?

If it's on your mind and it has to do with multiple sclerosis in any way, post it here.

Could this finally be the cure?

Has anyone else seen this? Could this be the final cure for RRMS?

Just one infusion of autologous mononuclear cells and myelin peptides, seems to cut relapses to ZERO.

It sounds promisingly simple, however, it appears to go down a similar path that Tovaxin went down, and failed.

It has a similar methodology, but has totally different things that they are injecting. Besides, Tovaxin, based on what I've read, was unlucky in its trial setup, rather than it not being efficacious. From the people who have had tovaxin on this site, many said it was the best thing they had had.

The problem with all current MS treatments is that they are not very effective and have side -effects or they are more effective but have more serious side-effects, This is because these treatments remove part of the immune repertoire that is used to fight infections and cancers. The only thing that gives the immune response its specificity is the target recognition receptors on white blood cells. So if you could only target the immune response that is causing the disease and leave the rest of the immune system intact you would have a treatment that works but would have essentially no side effects........ The Holy grail of Treatments in Immunology.
Talk about a giant leap in theorizing what actually causes MS!!! This is based on MS being an auto-immune disease which many researchers have been unable to prove for decades. The "Holy Grail" for sure.
