Flagyl

Post by marcopolo »

After being advised to commence 200mg of doxyi I intend to introduce Flagyli at the end of the month for one day 2x500mg. It isn't available in an other dosage other than 250mg or 500mg. At the end of June the intention is to increase the one day to two days and increasing every month after that till I'm taking it for 5 days each month. I'm laying it out because there seems to be some differing opinion on the 'pulse' process. During this time I will continue to take 200mg doxy daily and 250mg of Azithromycin mon wed Fri. Also it has been brought to my attention which as far as I can see has never been mentioned here the danger of contracting Clostridium difficile. Just wondered whether anyone had any experience with it while undergong this protocol. My thanxs to Sarah for correcting me in the past.

Not as far as I know, but you do need to take probiotics every day, two hours apart from the antibiotics, to maintain the gut flora which are wiped out by antibiotics. I often just took live yoghurt, but something like Primal Defense is very good.

Clostridium difficile tends to be a disease of people in hospitals or nursing homes, which says a lot for such places!

However, one of the treatments is metronidazole (flagyl!)
