If it's on your mind and it has to do with multiple sclerosis in any way, post it here.

Tongue fasciculations???!

Post by silverwings87 »

After a few weeks of off and on feeling almost like my tongue is numb, or I'm talking with something in my mouth, I checked my tongue to see if I was having an allergy and it may be swollen, I noticed it was twitching all over the place...

Went the my GP yesterday and he said it was indeed tongue fasciculations. Everything until now was pointing to MS (I have halfway DX of a "Demyelinating disease" right now.) And my Dr. feels it's not BFS.

Plase let me know anyone as seen with with MS... Getting worried about what else it could be.

I have an appointment with my Neuro soon.

Has your GP or your neurologist ordered thorough testing to rule out a possible vitamin B12 deficiency? The B12 blood test alone is not enough to rule out a deficiency; ask for #1 serum B12 test, #2 serum folic acid test, #3 serum homocysteine test, and #4 serum or urinary methylmalonic acid test. In your CBC testing, a high MCV (upper 90s) also indicates a possible B12 deficiency.

I urge you to read Could It Be B12? An Epidemic of Misdiagnoses by Sally Pacholok, RN, BSN, and Jeffrey Stuart, D.O.

Thanks for the reply, all of my levels have been tested and are fine. And my tounge isn't swollen, they are full blown fasciculations.
