Online Dating with MS

New Pathways magazine is planning a feature about dating, particularly internet or online dating if you have MS. The magazine is looking for two or three people with MS who have dated online and their experiences – either good or bad.

There has been a big rise in online dating recently and it has many advantages if you have a mobility problem because you can “date from your desk”. You don’t need to go out to pubs, clubs, discos etc to find a potential partner.

However there are one or two potential problems for an MSer who dates online. Do you declare your MS and if so, at what stage? Do you write it in the statement that goes with your picture on the dating website? Or do you wait until you have met the person and introduce the subject of your MS in conversation? Or perhaps you leave it til later on - perhaps on a second or third date when you think you might get a better reception?
