Watch Out, for colds

Post by mickb »

Just getting over a cold but It knocked me down (in bed) for day's. I ran some errands yesterday and feel like I'm dying now.

It seems like little illness' get magnified if you have MS. Then you start to wonder if this is just the way it will be from now on. Before you realize it you've a bigger emotional problem than the original cold ever was. So.
as I said.

Watch out for colds.

Does this cycle occur with anyone else?

Thanks for reading,
Mick

Post by jimmylegs »

hmm, yea, i think the last time i was sick with a cold, i spent a bit more time in bed than i ordinarily would have. but i didn't get too bent out of shape over it, i dunno. but there are other ppl here on the board who have a bad time with colds for sure, i'm sure they'll chip in here shortly. chin up!

mickb, I dont notice that colds are any more severe, HOWEVER a cold is a definite trigger for a relapse. Which follows around the time I am getting over the cold or a few days later.

Are you on any DMDs? I'm only on Copaxone, and even so notice that I catch more bugs than I used to and feel them more than I used to-- my PCP thought that was to be expected as all MS DMDs have an effect on your immune system.

Hi All, thanks for the replys.

I'm feeling better now (end of the down cycle and just beginning the up).

connieb: I'm not on anything. w ppms I'm not sure what makes sense. i tried betaseron and novantrone. big disasters both.

CureOrBust - I don't think i've ever had a relapse? with ppms its just a
s l o w ride with no place to get off. thanks.

Jimmy: Right you were. I hope the skiing getting a bit better. If its any consolation the folks in buffalo just managed to get enough snow to go. Good luck with the job, sounds like you get paid for having fun (sometines).

thanks mickb, feel better soooon!

we only have 3 of 12 runs open so far but they're blasting snow as fast as they can and we're getting into consistently sub-zeroes now. yep it's fun work (even doing coord it's not like you get bored!)... sadly you can't earn from it all year round though hehe!

I try to not to allow John to get colds. The slightest sniffle I put him on 1000 mg time release vitamin c every 4 hours. So far that's working
John was diagnosed Jan 2005. On lipitor 20mg .On Copaxone since July 4,2005. Vitamin D3 2000iu-4000iu (depending on sunshine months)June 10 2005(RX::Dr. O'Connor) Omega 3 as well Turmeric since April 2005. Q10 60mg. 1500mg liquid Glucosamine Nov 2005.
