If it's on your mind and it has to do with multiple sclerosis in any way, post it here.

Leg spasticity?

Post by Jaded »

Hiya everyone

Maybe I should know what this is but I'm not sure. My leg has always had the partial loss of sensation that remains after a relapse. It's harder to control, but mostly I do my best to keep fit and sort out any gait issues with physio.

But about 3 weeks ago the surface on the lower leg suddenly felt cold. It's much colder to touch and my body feels colder because I have always felt the cold through my legs....if that makes sense.

I have had flu - just after this happened. But that's gone and the cold leg hasn't warmed up.

Is this part of deterioration? Is there something I can do?

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Thanks

J.

It might be a circulatory issue. You could ask your GP about it.

that is just exactly the way my legs are all the time. and my feet are one cold one hot and they switch. I think it is due to the spasticity fooling with the blood vessels, but even at the big ms clinic at UW in Washington State, they never could really explained it.
in the case of my feet it is also accompanied by a remarkable coloring - blue, red, and very bleached out white, also switching back and forth with them never matching.
I am quite the conversation piece in pool therapy, and have had to overcome my acute shyness.
my body build is very thin, my heart and over all health is great. one doctor wrote in her chart notes that "despite significant livido independent rubor with blanching in both feet and distal legs, she has good distal pulses" - so nothing to worry about - it wouldn't require amputation. H A H !
and it doesn't hurt, so grin and bear it and carry on. my advise is - it's good for a joke cause not a thing will change it.

good luck!!!!

Thanks NHE I might

Hi proudmutt - funny you should mention that they are different colours. Yes, I have the same thing.

I try and spray cold water on it after my shower - not sure it makes any difference but I was wondering if I should up the ALA or something. I take so many supplements - wonder if I am missing something.

Worrying - I don't want it to get worse!
