Muscle Cramps

Post by tiredofcrazy »

Hello all,
I have been presenting symptoms of MS for about a year now, last 3 months they have become worse. Co-workers and friends asked if I had a drinking problem. Speech and walking becoming more difficult. I've done so much research...talked to my doctor. (going back next week to talk about plans)
My question today is regarding the muscle cramps. All the research I have done doesn't really explain what I am experiencing.
My muscle cramps (charlie horses) are full body, all day, every day. I can not hold a pen and write without my hand cramping. I can not wake up and stretch without my back, legs and stomach cramping. You can see the muscles rolling under my skin. My calf on one leg will cramp at the same time my shin muscle (??) is cramping on the other. I have had my neck cramp (hard to swallow!!), the back of my head cramp (VERY painful!!) On and on. Day in and day out. Blood test shows nothing. NOTHING.

So...thoughts? I have read about muscle Spasticity and spasms, but not much on the extent of full body cramps.

Thanks for listening. :)

hey there, so much cramping sounds nasty. did the docs take a serum magnesium level, and if so do you have a copy of the result? tangential question: do you take any meds or supplements at all? curious re potential interactions..

Magnesium levels all normal. I don't have a copy, I did at the time and let my Wesley Nurse look it over, but since then have misplaced it.

I've increased water...up to about 60 oz a day. I have tried to continue my exercising (crossfit) but can't even do the simplest of things, so that's out.

Thank you for your response! I really feel like I'm going crazy with this, and all the other symptoms.

heya :) with magnesium, normal levels are to be expected as 'normal' is known to encompass everything from replete to insufficient to deficient. if you can access a copy of older results, could be telling!
