I have experienced this. It is very disabling.
The way I dealt with it was to have rather a lot of pressure point massage (not big muscles rubs) that followed the tight bands in my back, neck and arms. Also a lot of regular exercise to work the small muscles (ie Pilates) is also necessary. You will need to be in a small class (no 20 people in a mat class) to maximize the benefit. The other thing that helped me was a subclinical dose of 5mg of Baclofen. I found even 10mg was too much for me as it caused stomach discomfort and diarrhea. I suspect you will need some sort of muscle relaxant but don't overdo it.
