Hi everybody! I'm a 39 year old male whose completely confused from all the doctors. After going through a number of symptoms, I tested positive for Lyme disease. However upon visiting my local MS clinic, the doctor believes it's MS. I was treated for Lyme disease, so now I have to wait until October to have another MRI to determine whether or not I still have the legions. While I hold out hope that it's not MS, my spidey senses tell me that it is. Has anyone else gone through this?
One of my concerns is that I'm from an area in Canada that has a very high rate of MS. I'm afraid that the doctors may be predisposed to diagnosing it. But on the other hand I don't want to wait forever before starting treatment. Don't want to go through another 3 months of symptoms again. Today I'm symptom free, hoping to stay that way. Any thoughts?
New here MS/Lyme diagnosis
Re: New here MS/Lyme diagnosis
Hi,
Sounds like you have partially answered your own question.
You had a diagnosis of Lyme disease.
You were treated for it.
You are now symptom free.
An MRI should highlight demyelination, if any, but if you are symptom free that's a very good start.
