Could I have MS?

Post by vitd »

Hi everyone, I am new to this community. I have been feeling some strange symptoms over the past few months, and I am starting to wonder if they could be related to MS. In the spirit of full disclosure, I will also say that I am a bit of a hypochondriac, and that while my symptoms are real, that could also be related to what is going on.

About a 15 months ago I started feeling fairly significant ear fullness and dizziness. After a few months of that, I started experiencing tinnitus (ear ringing.) The ear fullness and dizziness have gone away to a large extent, but the ear ringing remains. It can be better or worse at any time, depending. I went to an ENT and an audiologist and they said my hearing seemed to be fine and that they suspected allergies were making me congested and having the feeling of ear fullness.

Around the time that I started hearing the ringing, I also started suffering from fairly significant fatigue. I think it is fairly safe to say that the fatigue has not gone away from that time on. I am fatigued almost every day, and it doesn't really matter if I got a great night of sleep the night before. I will also say that my fatigue is pretty bad during the middle of the day, but it goes away at the end of the day. I usually feel pretty decent late at night. I have had difficulty concentrating and focusing that I feel is related to my fatigue. It can be better or worse depending on the day.

Perhaps 3-4 months ago I started having some strange visual symptoms. I would generally say that I feel like my vision is fuzzy in both eyes, and that I am somewhat "detached" from reality. The vision difficulties come and go, but they have been fairly frequent for 3-4 months now, like I said before.

Now, I have already mentioned that I am a hypochondriac, and I am sensitive to the fact that while I don't feel I am making these symptoms up, I could be making them worse by hyper-focusing on them. I have already talked to my doctor about the fatigue and eye problems. He recommended a sleep study, and I am in the process of getting a CPAP mask. I also had what I believe was an MRI (could have been CT Scan) a few months ago because I was afraid I had a brain tumor. I know, I'm a wreck. The MRI came back normal, but I don't know if they would have been looking for any MS related stuff since it was initially done to look for a brain tumor.

I know for a fact that I feel tired all the time and my vision is blurry in both eyes. I also know for a fact that I have experienced ear ringing and ear fullness. I do not know why any of these things are, and I do not know how much my own anxiety is playing in to them.

Does this sound like it could be potential MS? Should I be bringing these things up to my doctor or am I just being a big baby?

Thanks, and sorry for any inconvenience.

Hello,
If you have the coverage/insurance to do so I would go ahead and schedule an appt with your Doctor or a Neuro. It doesn't hurt to have an evaluation. Something is causing this to happen and I would seek some answers fro your health team
Post an update when you can and best wishes.
