BFS or MS? A bit worried, + Symptom History

Post by Mercfh »

Hi All,

So i've been dealing with weird symptoms for....a good 6-7 years at least. For reference my original symptoms really started about 6-7 years ago. But my symptoms are pretty much always the same (I don't really have any "newer" symptoms or ever had any.

My original symptom really was that I started having Sore legs, like ALL the time. Like as soon as i'd wake up, then I started noticing that i'd get a finger spasms when my thumbs (on both hands) were in certain positions. It was weird since it was only when I bent my thumbs sideways (and sometimes my fingers) to a certain position. It would cause a slight 'twitch' (not so much a tremor).

The sore legs thing made it feel like I had ran a marathon, even after waking up. It eventually went away (after dealing with it for almost 8 months) but it seems to have came back now. I would also get easy muscle fatigue HOWEVER my muscles would never have any "weakness" they would just feel "sore".

Other symptoms I have:

-My Legs/Arms go numb super easy BUT only if they have some sort of compression (IE laying on my arm or sitting for a long time one leg might go numb). This numbness ALWAYS subsides once I either go walk around, or release the pressure. Im assuming with MS things would just go "numb" randomly correct. (Also I have poor posture when sitting, and a terrible chair so that prolly doesn't help either). I've noticed stuff going numb easily since High School probably (over 12 years ago)

-Twitch/Spasms on muscles (I know this is big with BFS/ALS potentially, although im pretty sure I def. don't have ALS). But sometimes i'll get random muscle spasms (like you can see it happen almost). It's worse when im stressed but it's def. not the major symptoms especially right now, although I think i've sorta learned to ignore it. It can happen anywhere for me (Most usually bicep or thigh/butt)

-For awhile I had Migraines/Facial "numbness" feeling (Almost like I was feeling my face through a cloth), I haven't had this in a very long time (probably 7 years). I also had headaches, I had an MRI for this then and it came back clean. Headaches eventually went away (My original worry then was a Brain Tumor, but doctor said migraines can happen in your face and give it that feeling)

-If I take a Hot bath, I feel slightly more shaky on my fingers(Although i've heard this is normal due to the hot water making your blood sugar drop). Also since my bath is small I have to cross my legs which sometimes makes my legs feel numb-ish (However this goes away when I straighten them out, also this does not happen in hot showers). I know hot showers/baths is a big thing with MS, but I take VERY VERY hot bath/showers (Which I shouldn't do but it feels So good haha) and besides feeling slightly tired/shaky occasionally it doesn't seem to affect me.

I've had 2 MRI's in this timeframe (One when the headaches happened, around 8 years ago) and one when I had the finger twitch inspected/sore legs (Around 6 years ago). Doctor never suspected MS but mentioned Restless Leg Syndrome but didn't say much else. MRI was clean both times. I've had a couple of head CT scans as well (around a year and 2 years ago). Those were due to head injuries (where I fell) and had a concussion (Im accident prone, but I am fine from the concussions). Also I had eye doctor appoint for contacts around a year ago (So they did indeed look in my eye/etc...)

So what does everyone think? I think the only reason I bring this up now is that my sore legs are sorta coming back again (everything else has basically stayed the same). I've had bloodwork done in the past month (for a kidney stone surgery) so part of this may be that I need to drink more water, but does anyone think this sounds like MS? Surely my symptoms would've progressed by now?

I think the 2 big worries are that sometimes I feel slightly more shaky when getting out of the shower (its always been like that) and the fact that things go numb so easily when getting compressed (But I figure with MS they would go Numb sorta "whenever"). Is it worth going back to the Neuro again? (sorry for the long post). I get symptoms on both sides of my body by the way (Although I feel like my Left leg does go numb easier).
