Longer term results?

I have to apologize, I am only recently starting to follow the HyCy threads.

I have yet to find any discussions in the threads, or further information on the web, regarding the statements:

Kerr cautions that the "reboot" phenomenon didn't work in all the patients. Two years after treatment, MRI images showed that the disease had reactivated in about half the study participants, suggesting that their renewed ability may not be permanent.

This is correct. It's the reason why all of us who receive HiCy now is on Copaxone.

Copaxone seems to help make sure we will never reactivate. The folks who are now having this done, some are farther than two years out but they also continued Copaxone use for a year after the treatment.

In animals who have taken Copaxone, they cannot give MS to them. We will take the shot for the next 6 months to a year. This is because it is showing over time if the MS is not active, and you take Copaxone you never become active. The thought is if we take the Copaxone it will retrain the immune system and never reactivate.

Even if we did reactivate most of us would go through this again in a minute. It's way easier and way more beneficial than any of the CRABs out there.

With this you actually can see and feel results lol.

OK, so here's the $64,000.00 question. Can a person undergo this procedure more than once? Seems like it may be necessary in some cases and really hard on your body. ???

Yes you can do this many times in a lifetime (Dr. Brodsky said 5 or more times wouldn't be unimaginable) and aside from the physical sickness for 4 days it is a piece of cake.

No one has said that this proceedure is 100% forever but some people have had great results and are multiple years out with no disease activity and great recovery after being on a course to PP. I don't think that any other protocol can claim that. Other patients have seen HiCy more than once. No MS patients but a few with other autoimmune diseases. I had the same discussion with Dr. Brodsky about reactivation and doing the proceedure again. I believe that with the introduction of copaxone you are going to see much longer periods of remission. At least the historical data from the development of copaxone leeds the doctors to believe this. I was the second patient to go on copaxone but I believe that they are trying to put everyone on it after the proceedure. I am not saying that this is the greatest thing since sliced bread or the miracle that we are all looking for but as far as I am concerned it is the one proceedure that has shown and provides the best hope for some of us whos disease course has turned for the worst.
