Copaxone trade for Avonex?
Copaxone trade for Avonex?
I was switched from Copaxone to Avonex but have leftover Copaxone... can I legally sell it or even give it away? Ideally my thought was to trade it with someone who was switched from Avonex...

maybe
maybe just use them up.
It would be really nice to be able to put links in here
If I have included a bad link, google the word "Scholar", click link for "Google Scholar". Search for the name of the paper and author in Google Scholar.

Not taking it any more
Under the advice of my neurologist and physician I switched to something else. Why would I keep using medicine that has not been working for me?
Re: Copaxone for Avonex?
Perhaps there's a charity which provides medication to people which would accept a donation? You might even be able to claim it on your tax return. On another note, I think that there might be some legal issues with selling it since it is a prescription drug. Though, I'm certainly not a lawyer and can't provide any specific legal advice here. Why not ask your doctor for suggestions on what some of your options might be?urchin wrote:I was switched from Copaxone to Avonex but have leftover Copaxone... can I legally sell it or even give it away? NHE
I was taken off Copaxone 6 weeks ago and asked the Dr. office the same question " Can I give the left over Copaxone back or to someone who uses it?"
The answer was a loud NO! the explaination even louder - PEOPLE SHOULD NEVER SHARE OR GIVE MEDICINE (EVEN IF IT THE SAME DRUGS THEY ARE TAKING) TO ANYONE ELSE.
Has something to do with license & drug saftey issues.
I had 1/2 a box of Copaxone left and squirted them all into the sink.
It was a nice feeling to get rid of the stuff that cost me $100 a month that was no longer working for me.

Varies by state
I was told that the drug laws are different state by state when I asked my lawyer and that as long as the recipient has an identical Rx there isn't any problem in Maine.
