There's a big difference between an anecdotal story and a double-blind study. I agree with your advice on diet but see no reason why one can't combine that with supplementation.
By the way, I eat a very similar diet to the one you describe and I have had no remission of symptoms. Hence I keep taking my 6,000mg per day of fish oil.
