How do I put my photo on?

Post by Ruthless67 »

I feel so silly, but I really don't know how to attach my photo, can someone help? Such a little thing, but so frustrating.

Hi Lora, and welcome! Your image must be hosted outside the site on imagevent or wherever you go to put your pics online. Then whatever the link is for that pic (ends in .jpg usually) is the file for that pic and needs to be copy pasted into the spot for your avatar. It's a bit confusing at first, but most sites where you can do this have the same system.

I took the liberty of doing a screen cap of what it looks like under your PROFILE. At the bottom you will see the part for the avatar. That's what mine looks like, at that part underneath where it says "link to offsite avatar" thats where you put the link for the picture in at.

Hope this helps but if you need more help don't hesitate...

Mark.

EDIT: If you want to know the actual link for the picture, right click on whatever picture it is that is online already, then go down to properties and left click. In all that mumbo jumbo you will see " address/URL". You can highlight and right click/copy, that which will be your link to use.

Here is a place that host images for free: http://www.lookpic.com

For Avatar link to use at TIMS;
Select the image you want to use. Check Resize Image (for avatar).
Click Upload, then scroll dow to "Image to friends" and copy link.
Put that in the Avatar url of your TIMS profile.

This site can be used for larger images of MRIs etc

If you go to the Document view on your PC, you should be able to right-click on the file name and choose Rename, then change the extention to .jpg

Did you just want to post your photo or do you want to use it an an avatar image?

There are a couple of posts in the Forums FAQ thread which might be helpful for you. NHE

I feel so silly, but it only lets me change the name, not the extention.........I guess an avatar icon picture is easier, lol

I feel certain I've changed an extension before, but it's just not going smoothly this time......

Hi,

with lookpic.com it never will work as it converts everything to jpeg. I took the liberty to download, rename and then upload the picture here:

this should work.

I just am really excited about this board. The TIMS group are a wonderful lot and I feel privileged to join in on the journey. There is an awesome amount of information here as well as a wealth of talented people. Thanks to all for the help of putting my face with my name.
