I wish I would have found this site a couple of years ago...but I have found it now and plan to make good use of it.
I live in Wichita, KS 26/M and was diagnosed in January 07. It all started with complete numbness on the left side of my body. Went to the doctor, went to the emergency room, went to the chiropractor yada yada yada and ten thousand dollars later I was diagnosed with RRMS. Since 07 I have been on Avonex, but I could not deal with the side affects of flu like symptoms every week, so I stopped taking that and am getting ready to start Tysabri. I took a trip out to the MS clinic in Aurora, CO (who were great), to see what they had to say, and apparently "I am on track" haha. He stated that I was at a 3? don't really know what that means nor do I particularly like it, but what can you do.
I have been having bouts with my "ex" neurologist here in town and finally had enough of his "wait and see" attitude, so I have kind of taken some things on my own. I am really interested in the CCSVI and the affect that it is having in the MS community and am hoping to take a trip somewhere to see if this can be done. I figure if I spent 10 grand to find out I have MS, I am more than willing to spend another 10 grand to "cure" it.
So that's just a brief overview, of myself and where I am at now, hope to help anyone that I can and be an active member of this board.
Greetings from Kansas
Hi ShakyJay, welcome to the community.
I'm sorry to hear about the runaround you've recieved in understaning what's happened to you. Here you'll find a lot of great information and a lot of great people willing to help you.
As for the number your doc gave you, I suspect it may be your EDSS, which is a number between 1 and 10 showing how much MS has disabled you.
CCVIS is a very hot subject right now, with tons of info available on TIMS. Hope you can find what you need.
