I thought Dr. Arata would be able to help Mike? Ballooning or manual clot removal? Can a graft withstand ballooning? Wow on the clotting happening because he was taken off anticoagulants. It was months after the surgery. I thought he was in the clear.
This isn't like a CCSVI angioplasty procedure. This is more akin to a jugular vein reconstruction after radical neck dissection. Let me look...here's some research on jugular vein reconstruction, and the results were pretty good with the jugulars remaining patent! http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/9818828
Your primary care provider could refer you for a consult, if there is a specialist near you with experience in vein grafting and reconstruction, who would know what standard aftercare is in these situations. You have a right to standard aftercare. The problem with CCSVI angioplasty is that there is no known standard aftercare, but with vein grafting, there must be standardized aftercare?
Rest and healing wishes!!

Re: MY BI-LATERAL VEIN BYPASS SURGERY
Very sorry to hear you did it out of desperation: is the coumadin to try to head off any recurrence or clotting after the surgery or for some other condition? My guess is it's to prevent clotting. I wish you the best of success. That doctor sounds like he's one of the best, and like cheerleader said, you are real pioneers. All fingers and toes crossed. (Hard to do, and I don't feel a bit silly.)

Enough with the being brave. NOT BRAVE. My wish was to get better from this operation or I die on the operation table.
I am on Coumadin as my blood clots very easily. I have Factor V Leiden and a protein C deficiency I have had 2 pulmonary embolisms.

Slept 6 straight hours! Yeah! Plus, did not wake up hot and got going immediately. Before It would take me soooooo long to get out of bed. I do not have that feel sick feeling anymore. Getting better every day. Small baby steps. Fine with me as long as they keep coming.

NOT BRAVE? The bar for inclusion in the 'pioneer club' just got raised a few notches in my estimation!

This is great news for you Dania. You've had a long and scary struggle. I'm so glad that you are noticing benefits and know that you will continue to improve. Once the body gets the blood and oxygen it needs it is an amazing machine.
Keep sharing the good news with us.

Hello Dania,
I hope you get good long term results from the surgery. My advice is to fly as little as possible, as you could be one of those unfortunate people who gets DVTs without any known reason.
Kind regards,
MarkW

Re: MY BI-LATERAL VEIN BYPASS SURGERY
Well I am starting to be able to PEE like a normal person. Because my sphincter muscle was always contracted that was not possible. The woman who helps me with the shower saw me for the first time since I had my vein bypass yesterday. She saw immediately that my face was no longer red and could not believe how much easier I was transferring myself. She noticed I was much stronger and able to do a lot more things. Her boyfriend has MS and is unable to move AT ALL. I just keep getting a little stronger every day. This is is freakin unbelievable!

Dania,
It has been so heart-wrenching following your experience over the last year or so, it's great to read about your improvements! I'm happy that they could rebuild you, better, stronger, faster... Soon, you will need to change your middle name to "Austin" (ok, just kidding about that).

Now... not to be TOO graphic but I can NOW pass wind!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yes, I will say it. I can FART!
Another thing I was unable to do before my vein bypass surgery due to the sphincter muscle being contracted 24/7.
YEAH! Another small improvement!

Haha! Congrats! When your body doesn't work normally, these small things are important when they come back.
