If it's on your mind and it has to do with multiple sclerosis in any way, post it here.

Re: Again, NOT autoimmune

Yeah I am a cynic and believe this too. However, I would hope that the greed of one man or woman would make them spend time to "package" it in a way that they can make money. Procarin is an example. Some people believe you can get similar results using the non patent ingredients. http://www.goodshape.net/
The histamine treatment on that site is based on people mixing their own histamine in carefully measured amounts and then applying it under the tongue or on your arm. I won't go into the problems pointed out by a compounding pharmacist in mixing the histamine which is a very unstable chemical to begin with. Also, I've learned that all raw histamine is not created equally which adds to the problem!

I have only just come across this thread, but like the salvia, endothelium and other vascular threads I find it especially interesting

Harry, I followed up the link you gave to Elaine Delack's Prokarin site (the long interview she gives). I don't think she mentions histamine's use as a vasolidator. In her view it helps MS people because they have a problem metabolising histamine into the active metabolite and neurotransmitter histamine-2, and that a shortage of H-2 is known to result in several MS symptoms.

Also I read your older posts about your wife's success using Prokarin. From what you say it works well for about a third of those with MS, especially those who suffer heat fatigue, and it also gives some relief to another third. Seeing as I too suffer terribly from 'hot bath syndrome' and also have non remitting symptoms I think I should give it a go (though getting hold of it/making it seems a hassle)

That quote earlier in the thread about histamine reducing stress hormones and speculating that MS is a disease of stress interested me (as you'd imagine!)

I also heard somewhere that histamine can kill the herpes virus (is this true?)

Anti-histamine worsens MS related fatigue:

Gainsbourg,

Years ago, Dr. Hinton Jonez treated thousands of MS patients with IV histamine, thinking that MS was a vascular disease. He had great success with this but of course was at odds with the established MS docs at the time. His thoughts of what caused the disease was off base as well. I think that Elaine's theory has it more correct.

I've not heard that histamine can kill the herpes virus nor have I heard about it reducing stress hormones.

If you want to give Prokarin a go, then your biggest obstacle is getting a doc to prescribe it. There is a pharmacy in Washington State that will give you the first month's rx free of charge to see if the Prokarin will help you. You'll know within a couple of weeks if it does or doesn't and the good thing is that the side effects are very minimal.

If you do decide to give it a shot, please let us know how it goes. If I can be of any help, please ask.

Harry
