Demanding job--what to do?

If it's on your mind and it has to do with multiple sclerosis in any way, post it here.

Hi Bben
welcome to TIMS. Had a similar dilemma soon after diagnosis. Both about which CRAB to pick and whether to stay in a very high-pressure job.

In the end I picked Rebif and it was fine for a year, then it wiped out all my white blood cells and I got 4 relapses a year plus 10 infections a year. And my MS got worse. I switched to Copaxone and my MS has gone from being considered 'worsening RRMS' to just 'RRMS'. Unfortunately deciding on a CRAb really just means trying it. You can read all the info out there but ultimately there is no way of predicting your individual response to a CRAB. Incidentally my neuro thought it was highly irresponsible of me to try Copaxone. He wanted me on Mitoxantrone due to theh worsening nature of my MS. Now, 11 years after diagnosis, it's hard to look back at that time of constant relapse and I would never have thought I'd be doing so well a decade after diagosis. Copaxone has given me extensive lipoatrophy on legs and butt but I am walking, funtioning, pretty much ok.

The other thing about the job - I don't personally feel stress has much bearing on MS. I think that puts the cart before the horse. I have taken a decade to adjust to allow MS space in my life and I've finally given up fulltime work at the ancient age of 37! - never thought I'd do that but my fatigue was claiming too much of my life. After I'd worked I had absolutely no energy left. But if you don't have many other things relyingn on you after work, and you enjoy your job, I'd be inclined to stay as long as you can. It was only when I had my son that I realised I could no longer give 100% of me to my job anymore.
