I am blatantly bumping up my own thread !!! I'm getting my scan in Detroit in 8 days, on Monday December 7 at 10:00 AM. When I get home back to St Louis I am going to drop off the CD of my scans at my Interventional Radiologist's office. Then on Monday November 14 at 8:00 AM I have an hour consultation with him.

I am excited but scared. I am scared the scans won't show any problems with my veins. I know that Dr Zamboni and Dr Haacke believe that the doppler ultrasound is the final answer. Maybe I can convince my IR to learn the doppler procedure.

OC, You're going to Detroit 8O on Dec. 7 8O to get scanned by Dr. Haacke ? 8O 8O I must have missed that somehow. 8O 8O 8O You're more excited about your scan than the entire bunch of Stent-o-teers combined were about their interventions.

And two of us Stent-o-teers will be heading to see Dr. Haacke in a couple of weeks. We'll be interesting data points for him, kind of like before and afters. We'll post more about it after we have experienced it.
diagnosed RR in spring '04
1 stent placed in left jugular vein 7/15/09
on and off Copaxone

So now it's only 4 days until we leave for Detroit, and six days until I get my scans via Dr Haacke's protocol. My appointment with the Interventional Radiologist back here in St Louis has been changed from December 9 to December 14. My IRs nurse said that he wanted some time to review the scans before we talk. That is very encouraging !! I will meet with him at 8:00 AM (so early!) because he spends most of the day in the operating room.

Plus today we inclined our bed. It looks so strange. I hope we sleep tonight.

How exciting, to think you're driving all the way here from Missouri! 8) Tell me again where the imaging is being done? Did you say Harper Woods? I would love to have you over for coffee, but I know you'll be busy and honestly, I am busy too. I have a Calculus exam and paper due, I am room Mom for my son's 1st grade class, and I stock Hallmark cards at the local Kroger and Kohl's! That and I have 4 kids, so always something going on. But gosh, to meet up for lunch or something would be amazing. I also had our bed inclined three days ago and I have to say, I think I am noticing a difference. It's hard to describe, but it has to do with how my head feels when I get up and how much better my hands are getting. I hope you get some results, too! My husband has high blood pressure and sleep apnea, so although I know this is good for him, he is complaining of waking up several times at night with it like this. I told him it will just take time to get used to. I can't wait to hear more about your trip. If there's anything that I can help you with, please let me know. :)

Shannon... The scans are being done at Harper University Hospital in the Detroit Medical Center complex on John R street. I would dearly love to meet you. We are arriving in Detroit on Sunday December 6. Then I have my scans Monday morning December 7. Depending on how long the scans take we may leave Monday afternoon to drive home or stay Monday night and start the drive back on Tuesday. It's a 9 hour drive. We have a full schedule. Do you live near the hospital ? I know I live in a big city too and it can take ages to go from one place to the next, LOL. :D :D

Wow - You're schedule will be tight. I imagine that many hours will be spent at the hospital itself, consulting and having tests. It must feel really great knowing that you are contributing to the cause, and also finding out about your own anatomy in the process. :D I live in a suburb, about 30 miutes from the city, and I don't go into the city much unless I have to i.e. jury duty, job training, sport or entertainment event. The city I live in is called West Bloomfield, if you wanted to look at it on a map. I can't even advise you on where to stay, but hopefully it will be someplace right there near the hospital. :? Harper Woods is a nice little suburb, if you're near there. Grosse Pointe would also be a great place to look, again if you're close. I will look at a map and see exactly where that is.

I got up this morning and found this in my inbox from Dr Haacke's research coordinator :

--------------------------------------------

Good Morning Mrs. Nolan

We are experiencing a software problem on our MRI scanner and Dr. Haacke has informed me it will not be fixed by your Monday appointment with us and asked me to cancel your appointment. Dr. Haacke wanted me to assure you that you will be scanned when we get this problem fixed.

Thank you for your patience in this matter

----------------------------------------------

So I guess I'm NOT going to get my scans on Monday. :( :(

Hmmm...do you find this at all interesting, due to the message on the webpage about not being able to start the study until it has been properly approved in order to assure the safety of all involved? I can't remember exactly what I read there, but it sounded to me like the entire thing was being stalled. Well, I'm sorry about this. I know how excited you were, and I would have been too. Hopefully just a minor postponement, but I know it must be difficult making plans for a trip like that. I hope it doesn't cause too must of a schedule rift for you and you have some flexibility. Keep us posted. :?

Shannon... When I saw Dr Haacke's website I wondered the same thing too, about some review board approval. So I emailed his research coordinator asking about this and the email in my previous post was her reply. :( :(
