Ah pleased to hear it! Sorry it's been roasting here.....yikes
Re: Hormone Replacement
I'd heard! Hope folks have come thru all right. My entire Canadian family is over your way just now
In other news, had an appointment Monday. Not a complete win, but I think a good step in prep for this Friday. Otherwise, this week is absolute crap - need to turn things around if I can!

Re: Hormone Replacement
Good luck with that - of course you can turn things around. Try the Amy Cuddy postures!
Must be a system shock for your Canadian family. We had rain today - just a little but what a relief - and it's slightly cooler thankfully. Phew.

Re: Hormone Replacement
Ah good to hear you have found that right specialist! How did it go?
Interesting paper - thanks. It touched on something I forgot which we ought to flag here - that HRT helps prevent Alzheimer's - something I heard in a podcast. Note that this is a recent discovery. I shall find the link and come back here. The study was prompted by higher rates of Alzheimer's in women.

Re: Hormone Replacement
it went really well. expensive, and i'm still a bit skeptical of some aspects, but i am thrilled that she will consider stepping outside the box, and will entertain the idea of joining me on this latest learning curve.
i'll be looking forward to seeing that research link when you find it!

Re: Hormone Replacement
Hi JL
So here I am having picked up that earlier in this thread you mentioned being on a thyroid hormone. Sorry I didn't see that before
I did a search and found this thread again because some blood tests done this week came back ok except my cholesterol was above 5. But on looking closer I see my T4 has been falling and TSH is high. Both are still within the range but it would explain the extreme tiredness I am feeling, and also the cold.
How is your treatment going? Has it helped you?

Re: Hormone Replacement
Hi Jaded!
i have a few hormone prescriptions going now. it's hard to say conclusively, but i think i feel better in a few ways but it's harder to see progress in others. please forgive any repetition in the following.
one of the earliest was the armour desiccated thyroid 30mg/d. i was surprised that new specialist had ordered the test, not having had any particular symptoms that pointed that direction. when i first saw my results all were normal, but tending to hypo. my TSH looked a little above ideal with T3 and T4 a little below.
after a couple of months on the rx, everything was on track. my numbers actually looked a smidge 'hyper' to my layperson's eye, but the specialist was pleased and did not adjust the dosage. the T4 was up to 13 pmol/L, and the TSH down just below 1 mIU/L.
my next follow up appt is in january. so far, i have no complaints about desiccated thyroid.
For other hormones it hasn't been as easy to move the needle with the lab results. i'm being as diligent as i can, trying to remain patient, and hoping for good things!
most recently, I tried an OTC sublingual melatonin spray for the first time. subjectively, 1mg seemed to work like a charm
here's hoping for at least some more good subjective news with everything else!
