Re: S1PR2...does anyone know what this means?

I'll try a stab at it. For some reason the gene that makes this receptor is over-expressed in women and even more in women who have ms. This receptor is involved in regulating passage from the blood stream to the brain, so the idea is that it's allowing our immune cells to travel from blood stream t...

Re: A serious Question

I'm sorry about the relapse. Luckily your symptoms were minimal that's great. Here's a link that may or may not help. It seems to give different results depending on how long you wait to start a new dmd after stopping tysabri. I couldn't really get a complete understanding myself, but it may point t...

Re: Is anyone actually seeing improvements or symptom reduct

Can any of these dmds really work on our symptoms? I thought the best I could hope for was a slowing down of lesions and relapses. Not that our body can't do some healing of it's own. I guess if the disease is slowing down, there's a better likelihood of that. I've always had symptoms come and go - ...

Re: Tired after exercising...fatigue?

I was out exercising today and I remember feeling really spacey at the end - but in a relaxed way. It wasn't bad! I've read that our muscles have to work harder to perform the same task as someone without ms. And of course the heat can bring back old symptoms and cause serious fatigue. Lot's to cons...

Recurrent Uhthoff's: Is there a progressive element?

I was diagnosed w/ ms last June after I developed optic neuritis. While vision in my left eye is only slightly off at this point, it does get worse after a too hot shower or not being careful during exercise. It always returns to its baseline (I think) but I'm wondering if this repetitive heat-induc...

Re: MRI findings drive treatment changes in MS

As they should. Here's an article that shows how advanced mri imaging can more closely connect the damage in the brain to clinical symptoms and why your current lack of symptoms doesn't mean that the lesions you have are simply in the 'silent' regions of your brain. Sorry to sound alarmist but bette...

Re: Tysabri: among them, 665 people have Death.

I just had a considerable reduction in my lesion load after being on tysabri for four months. I'd consider taking it again even though I've been jc positive the entire time. One suggestion for those considering it is that you do some research about the rebound effect. My neurologist didn't mention i...

Re: Hello - newbie with a question: What's with my mri's??

Thanks eric. Although I just went off the tysabri bc I'm jc positive, but I would consider it again if my mri's get worse. Let's see what tecfidera does. I don't remember what my vit d level was but high enough that my neuro took me off the megadose. I try to remember to take 2000 units a day at thi...

Re: Is numbness permanent?

Have you had an mri recently? Sometimes ms symptoms can be directly linked to an inflammation or 'active' lesion. In that case a steroid treatment is often used. I've had intermittent numbness, the longest of which took about two months to dissipate, although I have it very slightly still. I don't h...

Hello - newbie with a question: What's with my mri's??

Hi all and thanks for reading, I'm 43, diagnosed last june when I contracted ON. My mri showed over 70 lesions and at least 9 black holes. I had in fact complained over the 3 years before that of numbness and tingling but was basically dismissed as a hypochondriac I guess? I went on rebif. My next m...
