Re: Side effects
Yes. It is very random for me. My appetite has been poor since starting. I've lost 12 lbs now. Quite often I seem to be feeling fine and a small meal brings on that bloated feeling, often along with pain. I'm still going to continue longer on tecfidera, though. Right now, I prefer these side effects...

Re: Side effects
I think I had my first exacerbation in four years about the time I started tecfidera. I'm anxious to see what my next MRI looks like. I Woke up last night stinging and itching from flushing. I've lost ten lbs since starting new drug. The nausea and abdominal pain often leave me not wanting to eat. D...

Re: Side effects
Wow! I haven't heard of anyone having a reaction like that. Glad you were not at home for first dose. Sorry you had to go through that.

Re: Tecfidera
Not bad at all. I flush now and then, have gi issues a few times a week. I will definitely take that over the side effects of avonex!! Plus, tecfidera is supposed to be more effective.

Re: Side effects
I am on week three. I have had flushing twice. The worst is abdominal pain, watery diarrhea. I think I had an MS flair that started about the time I started Tecfidera. Woke up extremely dizzy one morning. Stumbled around the house trying to get dressed. This is a new problem for me. After about ten ...

Dizziness--Is it MS related??
I woke up very dizzy several nights ago. It's better now but still there. Sudden movement, leaning over to wash my hair etc. all make me dizzy and nauseated. I started Tecfidera two weeks ago. Could it be that? I have no appetite partly due to nausea, partly because of meds. Anyone have help? If its...

Re: Tecfidera
I had flushing with first dose. I was red and itchy all over--even my feet!! Lasted about an hour. Since that dose, I can't tell I've taken anything. I was itchy last night-- no redness, just itchy.

Re: Tecfidera
My insurance covered me for the new drug. I'm so sorry you're having problems. I had to jump through several hoops to get started on Tecfidera. The flu symptoms of avonex had be in bed about 36 every week. I felt horrible. So far this seems to be much better. And according to what I'm reading, Tecfi...

Tecfidera
I have just started Tecfidera after four years on Avonex. The side effects of Avonex never let up. I'd love to get in touch with anyone else who is taking Tecfidera. So far, I'm doing very well--but I'm still on half doses. Next week I start full doses.

Re: Newbie to ThisIsMS and about to start Avonex
I started Avonex 3 years ago. Like you, I had no symptoms by the time I started drugs. It is hard to feel fine, then take a shot that makes you feel poopy. I am 52 years old, still working full time, am a grandmother, and have an active life. I decided to go through with treatment so that in case MS...

Treating depression caused by Avonex
I have quit taking the antidepressant prescribed by by neuro because I didn't like the side effects. I am researching more natural ways to treat depression/anxiety. What can anyone tell me about Sam-e? I have St. John's wort, folic acid, and Omega 3. I am considering adding Sam-e, but want some feed...

Exercise causes muscle pain/tightness
I am determined to remain as strong as I can in my fight against MS. Currently, exercise leaves me stiff and miserably sore for several days--making my workouts spread out farther than I'd like. I have switched to working out in a pool, but again the pain and stiffness is leaving me uncomfortable. A...

Avonex, weight gain, side effecs, etc.
I have gained 10 pounds in the last year--been on Avonex 14 months. I was told the weight gain was due to Lexapro, which I was prescribed for anxiety. I got tired of taking the Lexapro, and AMA, I quit. I started weaning slowly, got tired of that, and just stopped. Haven't noticed any difference in ...
