Hi All,
We just returned from the eye test, i am posting pictures on my facebook
Quite interesting with the eye scan, if you look keep in mind the red area is bad!!!!
We met all the people we have been chatting with it is just great.
Patrick and Marek(the 2 drivers/guides) are just fantastic. They are both real cards and really make this experience fantastic. And Marek is about to embark on a 4-5 month walk around Poland to raise money for MS.
So we are now waiting and Patrick will be taking us to the MRV at 4pm today, so another update after that, Liva is really up and encouraged today
Hi Livabird hubby. Could you please post a link to your FaceBook page? I have been unable to catch it, and I am enamoured by your adventure of crossing Europe.
Well we have come to the end of Day 4.
Liva has had the MRV but not sure the outcome, fingers crossed.
It was not as bad as she anticipated, took about 40 minutes.
Today was a good day, having lunch at The Patio, the best meal I have had in ages and cheap too.... If you are here you must go there...
I have looked at the pictures on the CD from the MRV but as I am not a doctor i really not sure what they show, little concerned that the jugulars look fine, but lets wait and see tomorrow.
Just getting ready for the procedure so will cut this short and update tomorrow after the procedure
Well All, the day you have been waiting for, we certainly the day Liva has been waiting for...
After next to no sleep for both myself and Liva, we got up and made our way down to where Maceik was waiting to take us to the clinic.
First up was the blood test and you probably know Liva by now and she freaked at having the blood test, but did not take long.
Next was to wait in turn for Dr Simka to do the Doppler, we watched him do one of the other people in her room, very business like but super knowledgeable. When it came to Liva's turn he spent quite some time whilst she was lying down. He checked both jugulars, then had her sit up and did the same but seemed to concentrate on her right jugular.
Then came the moment of truth... keep in mind i was worried that there was nothing going to show up. Then Dr Simka explained.... he had never seen anything quite like it. The left jugular had a blockage along with a membrane, the right was also blocked, but he explained when she was sitting up the right was 100% blocked, he had never seen that before.
He then went on to the sorry not sure how to spell it, the azagori vein, and said it was incredible, good ole Liva had 2 yup you heard right 2 veins where there is only ever 1 vein, again he said this is the first time he has ever came across this... Leave it to Liva, as mentioned Dr Simka is quite business like but in the case he was smiling and even giggling because of this, i have posted a picture of him smiling away.
After the good news, it was Liva's turn for treatment. She was in for almost 1 hour which is much longer than most...
They stented the right vein and ballooned the left.
Afterwards Liva had warm hands and feet, her feet were pinky white not PURPLE as they have been for months or years. Also warm hands and 2 fingers that were completely numb and not able to use prior were completeley normal as she was wiggling them all about.
Her face also had rosey cheeks again she no longer looked pale.
The next thing she did was pick up her book and read WITHOUT glasses.
She was very energetic afterwards as well, and this is within the first hour of the treatment ending.
She is now resting and we shall see in the morning about any further developments.
All in all 150% success and i have never seen her like this, brought tears to my eyes...
Dr Simka is an AMAZING man and there is nothing we can say or do to thank him enough
What a great report! I hope Liva continues to see improvements-- very best to both of you. What an adventure; these results continue to give so much encouragement!
Aug. 7, 09 Doppler Ultras. in Poland, left Jugul. valve problem, RRMS since 1996, now SPMS,
- Nov.3,09: one stent in the left jug. vein in Katowice, Poland, LDN, never on DMDs
- Jan. 19, 11: control venography in Katowice - negative but I feel worse
if, after all these journeys, after all these improvment, Zamboni doesnt receive a Nobel price for this... well, I will have to blow some tires and cut some brake cables of the nobel juges' cars!=-)

Hey Livabird! I'm typing really small to test your new eyes. How does it look?
Thanks for the great report Mr. Livabird. Wow! I have a grin so big, my son is asking me "What? What, Da?". I told him that the doctor who is going to take the bug out of my head, took the bug out of Livabird's head. He said "that's great!" (he's 3).
