Alex...
Dr. Haacke may have an answer for you regarding your low blood pressure and returning MS symptoms, via his research into Dr. Putnam's writings in the 1950s...
As for vascular insufficiency, Putnam discusses this in his 1953 paper (25) entitled: "Cerebral vascular insufficiency" although this paper is about arterial insufficiency. However, he shows that the effects of hypotension can cause significant neurological problems when it leads to a deficit of blood flow to the brain in the presence of already compromised (narrowed) vessels.

Wow, thanks for that. I'll ask the obstetrician about IVIG as it might be wise for the post-partum period.

Thanks, Cheereo. I've just looked at my symptom diary. There is a clear chronological correlation between the lows in my blood pressure and the renewed onset of myoclonus and walking difficulties. The night spasms started to reappear in week 17 of my pregnancy, at week 18 my BP was measured at 70 over 33. The spasms really started to be troublesome in week 22. In week 21 my BP was measured at approximately 70 over 40.

Thanks for posting that research. I'm sure blood flow impedance is a very important to MS. I believe that low shear stress on the endothelium leads to vascular permeability. Judging by my 4 month long nosebleed I reckon my veins have been leaking a lot! I am now in week 30 and the nosebleed has finally stopped in these last few days so hopefully I'll slowly recover.

Holy Moly, gibbledygook! I am in awe of what women do in pregnancy as it is, but your story leaves me without words. I look forward to welcoming your baby to the world.

All the best.
My name is not really Johnson. MSed up since 1993
