I am sitting in the Frankfurt airport (6 hour layover. ugh) having a glass of red wine and am posting on TIMS.

Now, this is pathetic

But might as well start a thread that I will be updating

Arrived at Katowice then was driven to Tychy.

The good - weather is beautiful. People that I had a pleasure to meet so far, are very nice (Raul, the driver guy and of course Kate). Hotel is nice, has all the necessities. The restaurant at the hotel is not shabby either - very good food.

The bad - the longest flight

I thought I was going to drop on the floor and just lay flat for a while, no matter what anyone thinks...

Anyway, here are 4 (5?) of us scheduled to be liberated on the same day. We are staying at the same hotel Arena. Already had dinner together

We were each given our schedules:

Monday - MRI
Tuesday - neurological consultation
Wednesday or Thursday or Friday (yet to be decided who goes when) - Doppler
Saturday - the BIG day, stay in the hospital overnight
Sunday - discharge from the hospital
Monday - nothing scheduled
Tuesday - fly home

Suggestion from this portion of the trip - request a wheelchair assistance right from the get go, especially at the Frankfurt airport (the biggest airport I have seen, and I have seen a few)

we found SFO-FRA-KRK flights with 90 min layover both ways, 14h total each way.

Hello Dr. Bart

My flight was booked on a very short notice, so had to get what I can. My flight back too has only 2hrs layover (yay!) Anyway - good for you for getting a great schedule!

As far as delays and such. See, performing the Liberation treatment is not the only occupation of Dr. Kostecki, so he schedules around 5 patients a week and no more.

Also, the clinic uses the equipment for other testings, therefore in a way "sneaking the Doppler time" is a correct statement.

Update midday May 24th.

MRI done. Pretty uneventful, except for somewhat longish drive (~40km?).

The MRI itself took less than expected (was approximated to 45min, but took about 25). Not sure if this varies from patient to patient.

Oh, at the end you are given your own copy of your scan. I was going to ask for it but did not have to

Thanks for info that you'll get a copy of the MRI scan (I was going to ask). Hope things continue smoothly for you. Do you know if your hotel has air conditioning?

Hi ND I had a 2 hour layover on the way to Krakow and missed my connector, I was wishing I had taken the 6 hour wait in Frankfurt. Totally agree with the wheelchair advice. My trip was a nightmare. Had to go to Vienna then Krakow instead of direct to Krakow. Hope all is well and look forward to the updates.
