Does anyone else get burning pains in their feet when they drink alchohol?
It has put an end to my love affair with beer. Everyone thinks i'm mad. One good thing about not drinking is i dont suffer the really bad hangovers anymore. In this respect CCSVI makes sense,as the booze cant exit the blood steam so easy.

I dont know about burning feet but most of my symptoms get worse when I drink. I went out with friends last weekend (after probably an year) for drinks and it took me 2 days to feel okay (of course, okay is a relative term here) ...

Personally; I never had any problem with alcohol; on the contrary... I'd drink more if it was not that nefarious for the general health

But if a date is messed up by your condition; it probably did not worth it in the first place

All joking aside, I would look a little deeper into something else causing the burning sensation other than the MS? I mean, how do you mow the yard, bbq, read the paper, BS with the boyz, ect.... without beer?
A professional (such as myself) drinks a couple glasses of water and takes tylenol before bed after a heavy night of drinkin. When I wake up in the morning, ah, well afternoon, I head over to the local pub for breakfast, yep, another beer.
If it weren't for beer and passin gas, I would have no life; just ask Bob....
Oh, and by the way, I am a professional at passin gas too!
I do get "buzzed" faster than I used to, my speech goes south (slurring) after just a few now. But, daddy said never be a quiter! So, I ain't quitin my beer....

Hi,
I am new in MS and I'm pretty scared, but will try to calm down as soon as possible.
I saw your posts about the effects of alcohol and also my symptoms get worse after alcohol and this is for many years before dx.
I would like to discuss our stories with MS and find common features and and forms of the disease. I think that may have connection between alcohol efects and some specific form of the MS.
So please describe your first and subsequent symptoms, diagnosis, MRI results MRI and another who find it necessary in this topic.

anyone have itchy legs? I itch mine so much they bleed. that is a liver symptom of bilary cirrhosis. common in primary sjogrens syndrome a differential of MS. there are neurological complications to liver damage that is why you get neuropathies from hepatitis and alchoholism.
look up the contraindications of porphyria and know that this applies to all of these "autoimmune" diseases. alcohol is one of them

Please I would like to know more. For last 10 years I have itchy leg and many times it bleeds when I scratch.
Are you saying that this is due to liver issue completely from MS?
I also have fatty liver but my LFT shows no issues as such ...

Naturally, my angle on this involves insulin: Beer contains maltose (a sugar), which becomes blood glucose. The pancreas secretes insulin (always more than necessary) in response to the glucose. The insulin damages the inside of the blood vessels and the MS cascade begins....

Seems logical to me, I expirienced immediate increase in some of my MS "attractions" (diplopia for ex.) after occasional excessive use of bear or vine....

I'm currently going under tests for an MS diagnosis, but I have experienced the burning, itchy feet thing for many years. I'm a beer drinker, although I've never paid enough attention to see if the two are related. One thing I do know is that one of the causes of this is a vitamin B deficiency. I started taking some supplements and noticed a huge reduction in the frequency and severity. You might want to look into this to see if it helps.

alcohol drains b vitamins among other things.

it's likely that burning feet = b vitamin deficiency, especially when there's booze in the picture.

alcohol also depletes zinc. zinc deficiency is a real issue for ms patients so of course alcohol consumption makes it worse.

correcting a zinc deficiency, by the way, has been shown to reverse cirrhosis, and fatty liver's linked to zinc deficiency too.

and finally, correcting a zinc deficiency will restore a low ms uric acid level to the level seen in healthy controls.

I'd be interested to know if you get similar sensations when you are suffering from bugs like colds and flu. If so, it could be due to the effect high levels of toxins in the blood have on your nerves. Bear in mind that nerves hate toxins, and acetaldehyde (the main toxin produced after the consumption of alcohol) may be the culprit. Try taking a dose of NAC before drinking, as cysteine helps some people deal with alcohol.

There's also a possibility you have peripheral nerve damage, like the type that occurs in some cases of diabetes.

My neurological symptoms (not burning feet -- but my standard ones) pick up if I drink more than I ought. Had a post about it awhile back, and some people reported the same, others said alcohol had no effect. [For me, it is very similar to how my symptoms pick up in the heat -- again, some people are affected by heat/humidity, others not.]

I haven't any idea which of theories presented to you are most likely to be correct.

I would, of course, encourage moderation in all things, including alcohol consumption, lol.

Beer is a really lovely drink and when I drink beer, I feel my self pain free.I don't have any experience with pain in feet while drinking.for me beer is pain removal.
