CCSVI in Bulgaria
Type of currency
Hi everyone that's been liberated. This is the first time I have posted, but the info here is great.
I'm going Oct. 4 for surgery. I am so excited. I am curious about shopping around Sofia & money. What should we use Euro or Bulgarian money. I would love to hear what works best.
Good luck to all

Internet at the hospital
Hello,
I will be staying at the hostel in the hospital. Was planning to take my laptop with me for communication. Any idea if there is internet availability?
Thanks

Re: Internet at the hospital
There is internet services threw out the hospital (hotel) but often it doesn't work for several hours.. but you can get on net pretty much everyday as I had brought mine back in June when I was there.Anya wrote:Hello,

Re: Type of currency
Pantelis, we go in a few weeks and were advised by those before us to bring some euros for the trip. Once at the hospital they have both a ATM and a bank available. I was told that whereas many places take Euro's, in the hospital (cafeteria, store, etc...) best to use Bulgarian Leva's. So, we bought some Euro's and once in Sofia we will hit the bank for local currency.pantelis wrote:Hi everyone that's been liberated. This is the first time I have posted, but the info here is great.

good luck!
Before leaving from home I put money on my credit card so I didn't have to hold onto cash and also with credit cards your protected for fraud and things like that. I did also call my credit card company to let them know where I'm going so that they don't refuse the transaction. The hospital ask you to pay the day before your released from the hospital or the morning of.Anya wrote:How did you pay for the procedure. I don't want to bring lots of cash with me. Ideally, I want to do transfer from my account to theirs. Is that possible? And when do we have to pay? (before the procedure or after?)
Thanks
Hi Anya we paid the day we left and paid by credit card to cover for fraud etc. We also tell our cc company whenever we are going further afield these days after being declined on our cc when in America a few years ago! (that was a lovely experience!) It's always better to let them know and then they know that noone has pinched your card details and less likely to decline your transaction!

Thanks,
Slody.

Hi All, this is Livabirds Hubbie....
You may well know us from the Poland adventure we had.
Well sadly after being liberated in Poland all Liva's symptoms are back and possibly worse now.... she did have about 1 good month....
She has had a stent put in her right jugular and balooning in the left.
There was nothing done with the azygos which is suspicious.. well to us anyways. As she has PPMS Dr Zamboni has said that this is the vein that most affects PPMS.
We contacted Poland again and said they would see her on the 22nd of July but they don't think it is the azygos, although we don't know how they can determine that....
Anyways, we have decided to bypass Poland and go to Bulgaria this time.
They seem to be much better with treating the Azygos, and Prof Grozdinski has told us this is a very important vein.
So yes it is going to cost a bomb again, after forking out over 7,000 euros to poland, but hey it is worth it...
So we will be in Sofia on October 8th.... good luck to all that have been and are going
