Thanks Koko, as you can see i have signed up myself instead of hijacking Jaynes account :P

We have been told that they checked during the procedure and they were found to be ok, we are not convinced or maybe just wishful thinking.

At this point i will do and try anything just to keep the hope alive and Liva to be hopeful.

I have stressed with Prof Gozdinski that we want focus on the azygos and he has agreed.... so we are going to keep everything crossed...

They originally offered me a July 6th date which was too early and subsequently gave me July 27th. This was all really great news except I'm not sure how 'confirmed' I am. I have a letter and a string of emails but nothing further. They also want 500 eu as a downpayment. I've been dealing with Irina; anybody have a similar story? Thanks, Mark
We are also scheduled for July 27th...we received email confirmation but weer never asked for a deposit?
This was several months ago we confirmed.
See you there.

check in July 26

Post by djh »

Hi again, I am checking in on July 26 with my Liberation procedure on the 27th. We did not pay a deposit but we did book several months ago. Staying at the Greenville starting on the 24th. I fully intend to ask Drs. Grodinski and Petrov to explore all the veins including the Asygos. I intend for this to be a one-time procedure and returning for a follow-up procedure is not an attractive alternative. I am from New Brunswick, Canada and do not believe that post-procedure follow-up is an option for me. Best of luck to all. Warmest regards, djh.

no deposit

Post by Kar »

Hi,
It looks like the 27th is a busy day. Geya Tours (who does the confirmations for Dr. G.) does not require a deposit. I also got an e-mail from bgtours, but ignored it as I already had my confirmation from Geya. My understanding is that the full payment is due at the end of our time there. Remember to call your credit card company ahead of time and alert them to the fact that you will be paying a large bill in Sophia. I spoke to Master Card today, and although they put a "flag" on my account they still want me to call from Sophia two days before the amount will be processed (as they officially o.k. these sorts of transactions within a four day window).
Getting closer now... Kar

airport pickup

Post by Kar »

Initially, I didn't respond to Geya's offer to pick us up at the airport as I wasn't sure of our flight info. Now I need to arrange that. Is that a service Geya Tours provides ( at what cost??) , or is it cheaper to use a taxi?
Thanks, Kar

taxis

Post by LivabirdsHubbie »

Hi Kar,

Geya tours has quoted 25 euros each way for airport pickup.
From what i have read you have to be very careful with taxis.
One person said it should be about half a euro per kilometre anymore it is a ripoff taxi.

Here is a link for blog on taxis

hope it helps

Hi Kar,

The service is great with Geya tours for the pick up. However I had read on Trip Advisor that if you take a taxi before going in ask them how much they charge as this one taxi driver charged a tourist a crazy amount and he had to pay it plus the toursits wanted to call the police but they had told him no police will show for that type of request... so be careful when trying to save a buck or two.. might end up costing you more.

We leave this Sunday for Sofia and after 18 years living with this Beast I am more than a little excited. At this point I have read so much and watched so many videos I'm ready... I think. A huge thank you to all of you who keep the faith and continue to post even after you have had the procedure. Your stories are all truly informative and inspiring. I have read that we do need to bring certain items when staying at the "hotel" in the hospital. things like toilet paper. Do they really not provide toilet paper or soap or shampoo??!!!! Please let me know so that I can pack whatever is necessary. I will soon be posting a pre procedure video to be followed by a hopefully positive post procedure video mid next week.

HAHA no friend, you dont need toilet paper!!! But even if you did you can always purchase.
And they wont let you carry shampoo bottles in the aircraft due to safety rules (liquid explosives and such).
Some clothes and money is all you need. Whatever you may need you ll buy it in the hospital. Everything is cheap there.

Apart from the meds they ll probably prescribe for you. It's gonna be around 200 euros if you decide to buy them in Sofia.

Relax and stay positive. Good luck.

Agreed - 27th does look busy...! Just to echo Kar, I didn't need to leave a deposit. I didnt receive any emails from "bgtours", actually, I dont even know who they are...

How have folks here been feeling on the flights back home after the treatment? Regardless of distance (long or short), did the altitutude make you feel uncomfortable in anyway (because of the procedure)?

Thanks in advance!

Hi All,

Here are some answers to questions that are written on here.

As I had left from Bulgaria and was going back to Montreal the trip was fine on the plane no problems with altitudes. I didn`t have any stents, so don`t know if there were be any differences for that? As per somebody writting you can't bring shampoo on the plane. You can bring it in your suit case (that is taken away when you register as long as you don't have it on your carry on). Toilet paper never had to buy any while I was there for 5 days.. and deposits never was asked to. I'm the one asking to pay for my hotel in advance since the euro is good right now but there telling me I have to pay the day I leave... so don't think you should be giving any deposits or be really careful.... Hope this helps and good luck to you all.

Thanks for the reply Devine. This puts my mind at ease a bit!

One of my colleagueas mentioned if cabin pressure or plane altitudes impact in any way so I thought i'd ask. I was pretty sure it didnt as we dont see any posts on it from what I've read so far.

We'll see if anybody else here has any comments on this.

Best of luck to all...
