CCSVI liberation treatment in teens

Hello everyone. My daughter is 17 and was diagnosed last November with RRMS. Does anyone have any information regarding the liberation treatment being performed on someone so young (no symptoms currently-initially 2 bouts of optic neuritis). Also-has anyone ever heard suggestion of a connection between MS and OCD? Thanks.

I am not sure, maybe the docs would be cautious about doing this on someone less than 18, but that would not stop me from looking for it.

Here is an article that says anxiety disorders including OCD are at 22% in MS patients and only 7% in normal controls.

Hi Amc,

Probably you should contact the doctor below. She got one of the recently MS grants to study CCSVI among young people. She will not be treating, just testing, but still is a start and would be within a clinical trial.

amc i am very sorry to hear about your daughter. On the other hand, it s good that she is symptom free.

Dr Ivo Petrov treated a young girl, a 16 year old while i was hospitalized in Tokuda.

She was in a wheelchair and she was an angel. Petrov had to put a stent (in her azy if i remember correctly) because balloon dilatation wouldn't do the trick.
All in all, i dont think that it will be all so difficult for your daughter to be treated because of her age.

Thanks everyone for your generosity of information. Cece, I was not able to open the url, (even cut paste), but have also seen such a study. It takled about iron build up being linked to OCD Thus far noone in the medical field, whom I have suggested the connection to, has heard of it. Our daughter also suffers from mild to moderate OCD. AMC

Anxiety disorders in multiple sclerosis: significance of obsessive-compulsive
disorder comorbidity

Abstract
BACKGROUND: Considering reports on the associations of symptoms of anxiety disorders with multiple sclerosis (MS),
this study aimed to 1) further evaluate various anxiety disorders systematically presenting in patients with MS and 2)
compare the results with a control group.
METHODS: To assess anxiety disorders in patients with MS in a case-control study, 85 registered patients in the Iranian
Multiple Sclerosis Society (IMSS) were randomly selected according to the inclusion criteria. A group of healthy individuals
whose age and gender were matched with the case group were also selected. Both groups underwent a clinical
interview based on DSM-IV diagnostic criteria.
RESULTS: Frequency of diagnosis of all anxiety disorders in the two groups was 22.4% and 7.1%, respectively, indicating
a statistically significant difference. Frequency of obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) was significantly higher in
the case group (P<0.05). Relation of university education with the diagnosis of generalized anxiety disorder was significant
too (P<0.05).
CONCLUSIONS: OCD in patients with MS was more frequently observed than in the control group.

Here is the abstract from the one I linked. There are more out there like this. Sorry for the bad link. Interesting about iron build-up being linked to OCD. That fits right in with CCSVI, a disorder in which iron builds up.

On CCSVI locator, a list of more docs than I knew about has become available. I believe it's because girlgeek33 talked to the docs at the symposium and found out that our attempts at secrecy are not necessary.
