Hope everyone is doing well, I just wanted to check in with Albany waiting list to see if anybody had received a call recently with an appointment no matter how far down the road the appointment is. This could give those of us anxiously waiting for our phones to ring an idea where they are an initial call date would be helpful as well. Thanks
Good luck to everyone.
Good luck to everyone.

I called at the end of May (I don't know the exact date). We got our inital call back on June 3rd. We have not had a call to schedule yet.pvns2005 wrote:
I received a call from Albany today and was scheduled for the procedure. I will have the procedure at the hospital because I have insurance. I have Medicare so I was immediately approved for the procedure.
Here is my time line. Hope this helps:
First call to Albany was on May 28th.
First call back from Albany was on June 4th.
Email received on July 6th.
Scheduling call back was on August 11th.
Scheduled appointment for Oct 12th.
Doctor will call to do the phone consultation in a few weeks.
From the quote above it would seem that we should be at the top of the list since we got our call back the day before pvns2005 did. Their scheduling call came August 11, 8 DAYS AGO !
I wish I knew what is going on. It is hard to wait but we're doing our best, as I'm sure the folks in Albany are.
If anyone placed their intial call in June and has an apointment I would like to know.
Thanks,
Bruce.
There is a factor, I believe, that is also taken into account when you get your call back for your scheduling date. Not sure about this just speculating. The scheduler did explain to me that once your insurance is approved then they call you with an available appointment date. She told me this sometimes takes 3-4 weeks to get approval depending on who your insurance carrier may be. I have traditional Medicare so I was approved for the procedure automatically. For those of you without insurance who are paying cash, I have no idea how that would pertain to your scheduling date.
Hope this helps.

I finally broke down and emailed Albany on the general timeframe I could expect an appointment. I did this as I can get into 2 facilities in Europe one the first week in Dec and the other probably sooner. I was wanting to go to Albany but not if it is a couple of months longer to wait.
I initially called the end of June (forget exact date but within last 2 daysof June) and was told during the followup return phone call that it would be late fall before I could have the procedure.
In the email just recieved I was told:
At this point, all we are telling people who called us at that time is that we will have an appointment for them well into 2011. Every month, we are revising our estimates and expect to do so again in a week or so.
Not what I was really expecting.
Figured I better report this as many others are probably wondering who called during this timeframe too.
Note : this was for procedure in clinic without insurance

That is shockingly long.millertime wrote:Note : this was for procedure in clinic without insurance

The wait for the no insurance clinic group has always been longer, so please don't despair if you're in the group that will be treated at the hospital. That wait goes quicker, he must be able to do more there.
I've heard that the Columbia doc already has a good-sized list compiled (but the list can't be Siskin-sized yet, can it?) and that the Pacific Interventionalists, at least according to that email from CCSVI Locator, currently have no wait. I've also heard that Arizona is no longer taking insurance, so maybe their lengthy list is coming down to size, which could be of use to anyone lacking insurance.
Wish this were easier.

I called in and got on the Albany list. They said probably Marcy 2011; they would call me when they were ready to give a scheduled date;
I called the Pacific Center (Dr. Arata). They have NO WAITING LIST. IMMEDIATE TREATMENT. I don't know about their experience, I am in the process of finding out. But it is closer for most of us than Europe, and they are apparently having luck getting insurance to pay for it.

I haven't scheduled yet. I hope there isn't a flood that aces me out!

Pacific Interventionalists have ten clinics, so they might be able to meet a high demand.
Fogdweller, I hope this is it for you. Best wishes.
This reminds me of the idea that with it being so hard to find 'available practices' that we've got to balance that against looking for 'best practices' and docs with experience. All while feeling maybe a little desperate and maybe a little cog-fogged. I feel for all of us, this is not easy.

From what I hqve been able to find out, Dr. Arata is very good, has done some,. attended Dr. Sclafani's seminar, uses the Haake protocol. Well qualified IR's in the practice. Looks very hopeful. I wanted to put my name on their list and gather the imaginhg info I wanted, but the office coordinator said there was no waiting list, when did I want to schedule! Maybe next week.
