iron deficiency

Post by annbbe »

Hi!
I don't know why for years I've been having iron deficiency anemia. Inspite of taking iron pills I am still "under the line" with my iron.

What's going on. Zamboni said we all have iron depositions in the brain so...how come..?

I don't understand it. Do you have similar problems? Maybe I should have tested my iron absorption level?

hi annbbe, you could be eating foods that interfere with your iron absorption rather than enhancing it. there might be some other imbalance in the picture as well. i can't say much right now but will be back later with a link to other recent discussions of iron nutrition, with some links to reading. Ditto annbbe! Low iron stores, taking iron pills but can't seem to get levels up to normal.

I do all I know to do, take the iron with vitamin C and not within 3 hours of calcium or tea or coffee.

It's very frustrating.

Along with taking iron pills, design your diet that it is rich in iron and make sure you intake foods that are much rich in iron.

It is a test most insurances will cover--your dr has to request it--serum copper and also ceruloplasmin levels are the ones to request.
