good one, but i would have like it better had they put it into some context, and mentioned the century of supporting and interconnected research examining b-vits esp b9 and b12, cognitive impairment, alzheimers, homocysteine, and heart health!

Coincidentally I've been posting some stuff about B3 (Niacin) in another thread and there's this little piece of info on one of the websites:

* Treating peripheral artery disease (PAD)
* Treating or preventing migraines
* Treating depression
* Treating or preventing motion sickness
* Treating Meniere's disease
* Promoting relaxation
* Decreasing the risk of Alzheimer's disease
* Decreasing the risk of cataracts
* Reducing diarrhea and fluid loss caused by cholera
* Preventing type 1 diabetes in high-risk children (nicotinamide only)
* Preserving some of the function of insulin-producing cells in people with type 2 diabetes or early type 1 diabetes
* Treating osteoarthritis
* Treating attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) when used in combination with high-dose vitamins (nicotinamide only)
* Treating schizophrenia.

interesting foot note on that last list item, eve:

the ostensible reason for using B3 on schizophrenia patients was that they do not get the flush reaction.

researchers assumed they must be reaaaalllly deficienct and tried treating schizophrenia with B3 in the 60s i think it was. they saw some success - but other scientists tried and were not able to duplicate results so the first study was maligned.

twenty years later it was realized that when you have a polyunsaturated fatty acid deficiency that you don't get a niacin flush reaction. so what was really going on with the schizophrenic patients seemed to have more to do with fatty acid deficiency.

interesting!
