My Dentist
My Dentist
Joe is my dentist. We both live in Ontario Canada and have MS. He is the reason I knew I had MS before my diagnosis.I had given him the number in Albany but 2 years wait was too long so he went to India. Look at the results.
A quick update.
I am exhausted. We have not slept in 2 days, due to excitement, being nervous, time change etc. It is Monday night Delhi Time 10 p.m. Joe had his Venogram and surgery today. He had major blockage on both the right and especially on the left side of his neck, limiting blood flow to and from the brain. After surgery and 2 hours rest he was helped from his bed to see if there was any immediate transformation. HE RAN ACROSS THE ROOM AND HUGGED THE SURGEON! We had already been warned by the surgeon that he felt it would be a major transformation and that Joe had an extreme left side blockage. It took several attempts to alleviate this blockage and was painful for Joe, however they did not have to place a stent which would have ultimately bee less successful. JOE IS ELATED. All of the patients treated had significant improvement but Joe was the most significant! I am tired and have had too many celebratory drinks along with everyone else. Pray for Joe's continued recovery and I will write more tomorrow.

I cannot get enough of these stories, but this would be more impressive if you could please tell me what kind of shape Joe was in before the treatment and for how long he had been that way. Please?
Thanks for sharing!

What kind of shape Joe was in
I have never seen Joe, my dentist lift his right foot as long as I have been seeing him. He shuffles. He is the reason I knew I had MS because when my symptoms started I said to myself "my leg feels like my dentist's leg looks".
We have been talking about this when ever I am in. I had given him the number at Barrie Vascular to get a scan. The last time I was in, he said he was still waiting. I said I didn't think it matters, they would do a venogram where he went for treatment. I gave him the number at Albany. He then emailed me that he was going to India. He has other patients with MS, one of them went to India and he decided to. Looks like a good result.

2 Days later
I just got this email. Could people who have had the procedure done please comment. I think the headache is common.
Hi Everyone,
It is Wed. Delhi time 11:20 am. We are 9 hours ahead. Did not send an update yesterday as Joe was in bed all day and I did not want to leave him. It was a rough day as Joe is very, very sore and had a terrible headache. He has an unbeliveable bruise on his thigh and groin. Today seems better although his walking ability seemed to have taken a little nosedive when he got up. It is now several hours later and improvement has set in once again. I am constantly holding my breath and fearing the recovery might be temporary. There is not a lot to say right now as Joe is very tired, needs to rest and let his body heal.

Hi erinc, I called this past June and I am told I will have a date in April. My dentist called in August. It is a 2 year wait now.

we can hope that when the Hubbard study starts to release names of clinics around the country that have been approved for their IRB , that the waiting time shortens....
my wife is on the Albany list, but if one of the clinics/hospitals here in Chicago get approved we'll get it done here and drop off the Albany list
