What would you all do??
I am taking PT and I am sure I caught a cold from the woman at the hospital.
It has set my ms back and I am wondering if it's worth what I am getting out of it.
Most of it can be done at home.

Since you are asking what I would do I would continue physical therapy. Anywhere we go there is the potential to catch a cold or virus. Don't let MS make you a prisoner. I have met people with MS who have pretty much quarantined themselves in their houses(not due to just physical reasons). When you feel up to it get those work-out clothes out of the closet and head back to PT and if you would, on your way out the door, give MS a one finger salute for me.

Well, I must say this........before I bust. Your replies took me by surprise.
Scorpian I do love your attitude. I must say I used to speed walk 4 miles a day.
I have had ms for well over 23 yrs. My biggest flare came on after a cold that brought on bronchitis. It put me flat on my back.
I will protect my body like a temple from now on. Sometimes I just lack nerve to get brassy enough to do it.
The most obvious problem being.I can't prove where I got the cold.
But, it very unprofessinal of a her to sit at my bike and cough and get up to blow her nose (not wash her hands) adjust my settings and touch my handles.
Then spend 30 minutes in a room with me.
Its then strange I get sick 4 days later. I had worked back up to one mile a day.
I am now having to rest and sleep alot and of course the obvious things one would do.
MS is not just a state of mind.. and I do not want to be homebound.
So that being said I will tell my dr to stop the pt during the cold/flu months and we can start back up in the summer with the aqua sizer in the summer.
I can lift small weights and bike inside my own home..
My dr can either get with me or get out of my way.
Thank you all for you input. Now get to moving up down

I don't think you're being unreasonable. Too many people knowingly infect others with their germs and it bothers me to blitzes just like you.
Your body is a temple and you are in charge of your care. I don't see what the big deal is as long as you are getting your exercise routine at home.
I just got a cold as well, started yesterday. A relapse for me started a couple of weeks ago but getting sick has put me flat on my back so I understand how you feel.
Rest up and feel better.
I do agree with a one finger solute though

I don't really want to get this lady in trouble, so I am not sure how to approach my dr. I don't think the pt is aware of what a cold can do to ms. I don't think she has any other ms patients... then again.
I think she had no business coming to work with any thing contagious
Two other women in the office who do appt. Were throwing there kleenex down too.. to write the times and stuff..
It wasn't write, then again..........wouldn't the world be great if everyone could take off for a cold.
They could have called me NOT to come in..
PT has helped me a lot but I have not found a lot of this to be specialized.
Then again I was used to exercizing.......it's doing it properly..
and slowly.
Thanks for the support. I will think of some way to do word this with flare..
But, I won't make it appear as If I QUIT

I suppose you could just call the clinic and ask to speak with a supervisor anonymously. You don't have to state your name. Just tell them you came in for an appointment, do not state your disease.
Let them know that what you experienced and tell them you fell ill after that. You could say "Well, I'm not really sure where I picked it up from, it's the season and all."
Just laugh with the supervisor, make jokes about the situation. Ask if there's some way they might be able to cancel with you when someone in their office who works directly with patients is sick because it's vital to your health condition.
I don't see the harm in it. If he/she says "okay", then state your name and your disease. You're not getting anyone into trouble. They are in the MEDICAL profession. Nobody wants to get ill from their doctors, it's just not right.
I don't think you are being absurd about it either as long as you are sweet about it when you speak with them. There is a tactful way and there is a rude way. How is your cold coming along?
I'm drinking a bunch of hot tea and today, I haven't gone anywhere in the house without the roll of toilet paper by my side LOL it's day 2 for me!

Actually I am doing pretty good for a cold. You sound like you have it worse.
I just had extreme fatigue and pain and thought it was a flare coming on.
Then I kind of got congested and " took advil" and knew. A couple days and some sinus and chest congestion all very mild and I started to pick up.
But I have taken a back set ms wise for sure. Strength has and pain wise for sure.
I had gone in to get my flu shot the same day and (same day and just missed the timing) Thank goodness.
You have a good idea, but I still have to talk to my neuro and I have never came across a situation like this before. I don't know how it may be handled.
I would prefer.. it to just not ruffle a lot of feathers. I am going to cancel my appt for the next week and let them know I am sick.
which I am sure will fly right over their head like a number.

I doubt you would ruffle feathers. There are probably people that call and yell at them all of the time for far worse things.
It doesn't hurt to just ask them to call you and cancel if anyone is sick. It's not worth going there to get sick. It's one thing to get germs out in public but people at your doctor's office shouldn't come to work until they've had a round of antibiotics or at least stay home during.

I was really angry with an osteopath I was seeing who knew I was going abroad the next day (plus that I had MS) and she didn't tell me before my appointment that she had the flu. She had gone home the day before because she was too ill to work.
If she would have told me beforehand I would have def cancelled as the risk wasn't worth it for me to have the treatment.
I didn't get flu in the end thankfully and had a lovely holiday but I did say to her in future if you are unwell please let me know and I will cancel!!!

SF, welcome to TIMS.
if you are interested you may want to read up on nutrition for MS. that's just my personal angle. i have included some links in my signature, below, which don't really get at all of my own approach, but i have drawn from them while building it.
fyi now that i have all my levels that are typically low in MS-ers organized, i... don't catch colds! .. knock on wood ;D

LR1234 That is worse if a dr does it in my opinion.
Last year when the H1N1 made so much news they were giving all the proper protocal about coughing into ones sleeve and so forth..
I got to thinking this girl, did none of that and she was right by me.
I ask her if she had a cold and she said no.
But I told her I could not be around people who had colds because it affected my ms.
I noticed she started to keep more of a distance. Too late..
Thanks Jimmy legs for all the data.
I have had many of my levels checked.. and rechecked.. I only take fish oil, a multi and calcium I do add a small amount of D and b 12.
I have seen and known many who have tried a lot vitamin "protocols" through the yrs.
I have noticed we still have ms.. Don't get me wrong I have tried many
From Colloidal silver... to Histamine................the Procarine patch.
scripted LDN... homemade LDN
the fungus theory.
Too many to remember or name.
