If it's on your mind and it has to do with multiple sclerosis in any way, post it here.

Gaba pain relief??

Post by MrsGeorge »

I have had this recommended to me as potential pain relief. Has anybody heard of it & if so, is it effective?

I've been having painful MS Hug - ribcage spasms for over a week now.

Are you asking about Gabapentin?

Well, they're different molecules to start with. They likely have different physiology as well. Gabapentin is marketed as neurontin by Pfizer. The supplement known as gaba is gamma-aminobutyric acid. I was offered a prescription for neurontin for neuropathic pain early after diagnosis. After reading a bit about it, I decided against it. However, I haven't read much about gaba yet.
