Newbie from Black Diamond, AB CANADA

Post by Stabilo »

Good Evening,

I cam across these forums tonight in hopes of finding more support from people who have a relatively good idea of what I'm going through. I have RRMS, and was diagnosed in June 2009. I am currently not on any treatments but am hoping to start Copaxone within the next 2 weeks. I am a 26 year old mother of 2 girls. My latest symptoms (numbness in the left side, including face, speech issues and severe imbalance) have left me feeling hopeless. I'm not playing the pity party game, I just want to get a better network of support, hence why I am throwing myself out here. Hoping to get to know more people in my situation.........

Hi & Welcome!

I'm glad you found the forum. You will find a wealth of good information, healthy debate, lots of support, love & laughter on this site. Have you checked out Calgary's CCSVI group yet? I haven't made it to a meeting yet but I did go to Direct-MS's conference this past spring - they had invited Robert Zivadinov & Bianca Weinstock-Guttman from Buffalo to speak & present some information - very interesting!

I have been on Copaxone since April 2006 with no problems - find Shared Solutions to be very helpful and have had no relapses since the fall of 2006, so I have to believe it is helping. Look for posts from JimmyLegs - she is VERY knowledgeable about supplementation. It takes time to come to terms with a life changing diagnosis and lots of energy to deal with a young family too. I hope you have lots of family support & encouragement, as well. All the best in your journey....

Welcome, Stabilo!

I completely understand how you feel--I still feel that way from time to time, and I was diagnosed in 2001. I have other health issues too, so that plays into it. I'm sure it's overwhelming, dealing with this, and being a mom to two kids!

Give yourself time, and allow yourself to feel bad if you need to. I read a book that said to indulge "your blues" for no more than 10 minutes at a time--than snap out of it, and stop dwelling on it! Easier said than done, I know....but try to shift your focus to the good things in your life.

Stay as positive as you can, and know you can always talk here if you need to!

Take care!

P.s.--There's a book called "Ms & Your Feelings" that might help a little
