Confused got MRI, no nerve damage.

If it's on your mind and it has to do with multiple sclerosis in any way, post it here.

Confused got MRI, no nerve damage.

Post by Tyr616 »

I got a MRI of my spine in the associated area showing no nerve damage, no compression, no nothing. My doctor is baffled. Is it possible loss of sensation in this area can be caused by something else like deficiency, muscle tension or low testosterone?

I had the same issue.....numbness everywhere but nothing showed up on MRI for 14 years until recently. Things can also be missed on 1.5 Tesla machines you really need to be checked by a 3T Tesla for clearer results.

WEll at this point. Spinal MRI showed no damage. I have no motor reflex problems, I pass a neuro exam. So I don't really now what to think. I hope my diagnosis is wrong some how heh.

It is possible you don't have MS but you could also be in a similar situation to what I was in...11 MRI's brain and spine over 14 years normal. Neuro exam normal (except once I had brisk reflexes which then returned to normal), and no motor problems. I have fatigue, numbness and now vision issues and vertigo that comes and goes. My EMG and nerve tests normal.
2 normal LP's. My last MRI on brain and spine both show lesions, and 3rd LP positive.

I know its crap:( When I had steroids a year ago for l'hermittes it cleared up some of the numbness I had had for years. the numbness returned though a few months ago but what that tells me is that it could be reversed even years later. I hope they can find a drug to keep it from coming back.

What kind of steroids did you get? I was thinking about asking my doc for some.

oral steroids methylpredinsilone (sp??) but won't take them again as they made me feel awful! I would only take them again if symptoms were really bad. Wheldon protocol (antibiotics) also gave me some sensation back but had to stop taking them as liver enzymes shot through the roof. Maybe its just the fact they help with blood circulation and lower inflammation.

Yeah possibly, I was on antibiotics last 2 weeks, noticed maybe slight change in feeling very minimal though. Then towards the end of it bam huge loss of sensation again. (although i was still on them)
